Default Third Age Total War starting trouble

I downloaded Medieval total war gold edition off the Gamestop App from Gamestop.com
I then downloaded TATW and tried to play it and this popup appeared - Windows cannot find 'kingdoms.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.

Please note that i did not get the game off steam (like i should off, but wasnt thinking) or purchased a disk for the game. I downloaded it off the Gamestop App from Gamestop.com.

I have looked everywhere to fix it but no luck. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

You could get a steam account and add the game to your library, I dont know why but it seems to help. Anyway the games are only 5 or so dollars on steam, so if you do need to download them again, might as well be from there. As for giving any assistance, I have a similar message popping up when I try to install SS 6.3 and 6.4. If I am able to figure out what is the deal with these issues, I will try to aid in any way I can. As for immidiate help, I recommend posting this again in a Legolose (a person who has worked on those mods for a while and is very familiar with them) TATW forum. I did that when I was having problems and the people there cleared them right up. Sorry I couldnt be more help, but hopefully this will help you get a few leads instead of running around in the dark. I know how that goes.

There are people who have gotten the gamestop version to work, but I'm not exactly familiar with it. Where do you have TATW installed? Is it in the M2TW mod folder?

It's already in the TATW forums. Irishron moved it here.

Do you have at least one Kingdoms campaign installed, i.e. americas or crusades?

Have a look at this thread:

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=558640

Do you have two seperate installs? One for M2TW and one for M2TW Gold or something similar? TATA should be installed into the same mod folder as the rest of the Kingdoms campaign folders, i.e. americas, crusades, etc....

Good! For future reference though can you tell how you got it to work?

Well, the apparently I had two folders for Third Age; one of them was the one I thought was not working which I kept in my mod folder in the Gold Edition file and the correct one that I had been looking for all along was in my Medieval 2 mod folder. So i just cut and pasted the correct Third Age mod file into Gold edition and Hurrah!

You installed TATW 3.0 part 1 and part 2, TATW 3.1 Patch, TATW 3.2 Patch in this order?
Maybe deleting map.rwm file in ....M2TW/ mods/ FOLDER WHERE TATW is installed/ data/ world/ maps/ base folder would work.

Ok this is in detail what happens. I double click on the icon. It has the loading screen going on. Then it goes back to desktop.

Have you checked the Virtual Store as instructed there in MOS Thread? If there is M2TW folder in VirtualStore, delete it. If that doesn`t work, reinstall TATW.
You can find more info here for the steps you need to do, and they are:
    1. Edit the security for your main M2TW folder, unhide hidden files, check the VirtualStore and If there is M2TW folder in VirtualStore, delete it ( if there is non, procced ).

    2. Delete manually Third_Age_3 folder from your main ..M2TW/ mods folder.

    3. Install ALL Four TATW Installers, check the Installation path for all of them, they have to be installed into your main Medieval II Total War folder ( if your M2TW is installed in D: Games for example, then the installation path has to be D: /Games/../ Medieval II Total War ).

    4. For battle crashes: Disable daylight saving settings, go to Control Panel, Clock, Date and Time, Change the time zone, Change time zone, uncheck `Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Savings time` ( or, delete two descr_geography_new files ( .db and .txt ) in ..M2TW/mods/ Third_Age_3/ data folder ).

    Good luck!
