The Gryffindor Common Room is located in one of the castle's towers (Gryffindor Tower), the entrance to which is located on the seventh floor and is guarded by an oil painting of the Fat Lady, who is garbed in a pink silk dress. She permits entry only after being given the correct (regularly changing) password. Behind her is a large common room, with a fireplace, and two staircases leading up to the girls' and boys' dormitories. It is very comfortable, and members of the Gryffindor house meet there for study groups, celebrations, or relaxation. The Gryffindor house emphasizes the traits of courage as well as "daring, nerve, and chivalry," and thus its members are generally regarded as brave, though sometimes to the point of recklessness.

Ralph Twynmold finds the Gryffindor's dormitory quite pleasing as he wanders in for the first time, eyeing all the tapestries and paintings, the aesthetic color scheme of the common room very calming.

Lyonel entered, and sat down at a comfortable sofa near the fire,

Weatherby stumbled through the portrait of the Fat Lady, his arms full of books. He dumped them unceremoniously on a table before slumping down into one of the chairs. All desire to study slipped from his mind the instant he cracked a book open. He glanced around furtively for an excuse to procrastinate when he spotted the new Gryffindor inductees. He slammed the book closed and leaned over the back of his chair.

"Ickle firsties! How're you enjoying your first classes?"

[Pinkerton]

They're fine, though the Head of our House is rather strict,

He nodded, and yawned. The day had been long

What's your name? He asked to him

"Weatherby Wiggins," he answered, exchanging his seat for one beside the first-year. "You should have known our old Head, Professor White. Interesting character he was. Had a head bald as a baby's and a red tweed suit to go with it. What's your name, then?"

Ralph looks over to the two students conversing by the fire, one an older student and one in his year.
He walks over to answer the older student's question addressed to them.

"They're fine classes, like he said."
He now stood behind the couch the other two students were sitting on, his hands perched on the back of the sofa.

Lio, Lyonel Marygold,

The fire warmth him, and made him felt cozy

Why did he left?

Weatherby shrugged. "They never told us. My guess is he's moved away to Macedonia. He had a real fondness for that country. Even took me with him to visit once or twice. A good man he was, even if his head was up in the clouds for the most part."

Ralph looks over to the two students conversing by the fire, one an older student and one in his year.
He walks over to answer the older student's question addressed to them.

"They're fine classes, like he said."

"Glad you're enjoying, too. Who are you, then?"

He turns to the other boy on the couch, "You're Lio right?"

"Alright then, Lio, Ralph, Which classes are you most excited for?"

DADA, Charms and Transfiguration. You know, with the wand

"Ah, well, herbology intrigues me quite a bit, but I'm curious about all the others almost as much."

"Good choices. Potions was never my thing either. I think Professor White used to pass me just because he liked me. Anyways, what else have you guys been up to since starting here? Had any run-ins with the Slytherins yet?" Weatherby said with a mischievous laugh.

[Pinkerton]

I stumbled with a third year Slytherin, I think his name was Atticus Prince, but we just talked a little, he seemed kind of Slytherin-ish, if you know what I mean, but he was a pretty nice fellow

Lio was still confused by that encounter with Atticus

Ralph chuckles.
"I think the hat almost sorted me into Slytherin actually.."

[Kip]

Weatherby looked sideways at Ralph. "Good thing it didn't. Watch out for Slytherins. They're all a bad bunch. A bunch of sixth-year Slytherin brutes ambushed me and tried to Curse me when I was a first-year. That's Slytherin for you, though. They only ever pick on those smaller and weaker than them. So very powerful they are, eh?"

"Atticus is great though, he's always been a good friend to me. He's the rare exception to the rule, should have been sorted in with us, really. He wouldn't hurt a fly."

Ralph's face immediately turned to shock.
"Yeah, I'm confident I don't belong there. It said many of my relatives were in Slytherin."

[Pinkerton]
