Ah, bien sûr. I hear he has been crowned King of the Germans, très bien for him. And what is it you wish to discuss?

As I thought. But what would I benefit from this? Your German lords are fighting the Pagans to the East and a civil war has broken out in Italy. Wouldn't I gain more if I just declared war on you?

    He laughed.
lets put it in realistic terms, your majesty. The dukes of Normandy, Aquitaine and Brittany rule their lands like petty kingdoms, and they discard your divine right to rule. If you would declare war, these "Robber Barons" would simply spit in your face. You would gain the military support of Germany when you need it, whenever you should call.

You do make a good point, monsieur. I would need an ally when the time comes to increase my own power within my realm. Alright, an alliance it is.
