    Default Barbarian stone walls - my discovery -

    allways i liked to give it a try but never made it until today, the barbarian stone walls mod.
    Now i made all changes and installed the needed cas models and pictures for the UI folder.

    I was able now to build stone walls for alesia but after the building construction was done, only the city buildings where visible on the strat map but not the walls.
    (visiting the city on the battlemap showed exellent stone walls- all right )

    there was nothing else to do, all instructions from the mod were followed and done.I looked through all files of the game and found the file "descr_cultures.txt" not mentioned for change in any stone wall tutorial.

    there i added, similiar to the changes of the "descr_sm_settlements.txt" the lines for the third wall level:

    town
    {
    normal data/models_strat/residences/barb_town_buildings.CAS, settlement_barbarian_level_2
    wall data/models_strat/residences/barb_town_wall_1.CAS, settlement_barbarian_walled_level_2
    wall data/models_strat/residences/barb_town_wall_2.CAS, settlement_barbarian_walled_level_2
    wall data/models_strat/residences/barb_town_wall_3.CAS, settlement_barbarian_walled_level_2
    card data/ui/barbarian/cities/barbarian_town.tga
    }
    large_town
    {
    normal data/models_strat/residences/barb_large_town_buildings.CAS, settlement_barbarian_level_2
    wall data/models_strat/residences/barb_large_town_wall_1.CAS, settlement_barbarian_walled_level_3
    wall data/models_strat/residences/barb_large_town_wall_2.CAS, settlement_barbarian_walled_level_3
    wall data/models_strat/residences/barb_large_town_wall_3.CAS, settlement_barbarian_walled_level_3
    card data/ui/barbarian/cities/barbarian_large_town.tga
    }
    city
    {
    normal data/models_strat/residences/barb_city_buildings.CAS, settlement_barbarian_level_2
    wall data/models_strat/residences/barb_city_wall_1.CAS, settlement_barbarian_walled_level_4
    wall data/models_strat/residences/barb_city_wall_2.CAS, settlement_barbarian_walled_level_4
    wall data/models_strat/residences/barb_city_wall_3.CAS, settlement_barbarian_walled_level_4
    card data/ui/barbarian/cities/barbarian_city.tga

    i restarted my custom imperial campaign and again consructed the stone walls of alesia.........
    and they were visible on the strat map!!!!

    maybe it`s allready known but maybe it helps noobs like me to try it if the mod seems to be not working right.

    Lusted your tutorial is called
    "How to Transfer Barbarian Buildings from BI to RTW" and that`s the topic`s main theme, bi to rtw transfer and not only the walls.
    Maybe others do, but i would never look into that thread when searching for the answer related to adding vanilla rtw stone walls to the barbarian faction of vanilla rtw.
    Your Tutorial is a much more complex task then only adding the walls and for the newby not suited to explain just stone walls for barbarian factions without any BI files.
    Do you know any other tutorial where my additional advise related to the stone walls is clearly explained?

    Your are correct, Webbird, the little 'Barbarian Stone Wall' mod is missing file entries that allow the walls to show up on the Strat Map.....took me a while as well to figure out what it was. Actually, before I even realized Lusted had a tutorial for doing this, I used a 'Borsock(?) RTW Enhancement Pack 2.2.4' or something like that to add both the walls and the BI buildings. Worked pretty good, but had to be careful because I didn't like the unit changes it made.

    descr_sm_settlements.txt states this at the top:

    ; Currently, just strategy map model and UI card.
    ; (Anything else required may have to be specified as a separate block - eg, anything that is per-faction
    ; rather than per-culture, or doesn't depend on level .)

    so I assumed it referred to the strat map. Also, matching this file to what descr_cultures.txt read in terms of walls fixed the strat map walls.
