Re: Move in Initial Formation?
Select all the units by pressing Ctrl A and group them. Move the arrow to where you want your army positioned and hold the right mouse button and drag the mouse right to face them in the direction you want and let go of the mouse button to begin the process.

Re: Move in Initial Formation?
Or you can set up your formation how you want it. Then move by group Ctrl I for Infantry, Ctrl M for Missile, and ctrl C for Cavalry. Then just one right click to move your men. IF you are not sure if your guys are in going in formation press the space bar, or shift key and that will show you where they are going to go.

Re: Move in Initial Formation?
Your beautiful formation is rearranged by the computer if, when you move it, any portion of the formation extends beyond the boundary of your allowed setup area. No extra charge for this service.
left-mouse-click or left-click-drag-and-release --> selects unit or group of units.
CTRL-left-mouse-click or CTRL-left-click-drag-and-release --> selects/deselects additional units.
right-mouse-click --> moves center of selected unit or group of units to new location.
'<' and '>' keys --> spins the selected unit/formation counter-clockwise or clockwise about its center.
Start by right-mouse clicking your selected formation in a location near the center of the setup area, and progressively get closer to where you want the group of units to go. Observe the edges of your formation after each right-click, and make sure they are not so close to the border that your next click will move any part of any unit over any line.

Re: Move in Initial Formation?
no one seems to have mentioned the most simple solution....
simply select all your units and, while holding down the ALT key, right-click where u want them to move. No matter what arrangement those units are in, and as long as the formation stays in the boundary as NobleNick mentioned, your formation will be preserved 100%. The ALT key technique even works with individual units, if you want to preserve their facing and the shape of the unit. ALT key is all you really need!
