    I like the mod its much more fun than the normal RTW.

    However the AI is totally stupid for example:

    I was playing Rome i captured all rebel states in italy then noticed i was at war with greece so i captured all their cities.

    Then randomly for no apparent reason gaul just invades so i send an army up and crush their sieging army and my diplomat gets a peace with them 1 turn after they attacked me...

    5 turns later the gauls seem to have *totally forgotten* how stupid is to to attack Rome and decide to attack me again (despite the fact i garrisoned the border cities heavily this time).

    Their army was once again obliterated and they refused all offers of ceasefire so i started a full invasion of Gaul taking city after city and every time i take a city i offer ceasefire and they refuse.

    The AI doesnt seem to quite understand that *over here is Rome its not a good idea to attack this mkay*

    The AI REALLY doesnt understand *Hey im getting freaking raped here maybe i should either accept peace or stop constantly BREAKING the peace*

    This is typical of all TW games i suppose the AIs always get it into their head that they want THIS city and they are gonna get THIS city it doesnt matter if THIS city is at other side of map and owned by their allies. None of that matters, All that matters is the AI wants THIS city and it will attack regardless of who owns it and better yet it will attack even if it doesnt have a snowballs chance in hell of winning said city.

    Then theres the naval blockade thing Carthage just randomly decides to blockade a port obviously its another case of *THIS* port must be blockaded regardless of who owns it.... Within 2 turns Carthage was kicked out of Sicily and Malta (still refuses peace they are about to lose their capital smart people all this over a random port blockade?)

    I play defensively i never actually EVER attacked anybody in the TW games i just keep to myself and when i get attacked i beat the out of the attacker. This seems to be a viable option since the AI will often attack when it knows damn well it cant possibly win just makes my job easier i suppose.

    The RTW AI (and that of every other TW game) is hardcoded. Modders cannot touch it. I agree that it is most certainly stupid.

    To be fair to the AI, Gauls in real life never really got that part (what you have said)

    1- the higher the campaign difficulty setting, the more stubborn the AI is

    2- if you have areas that in an AI factions victory conditions, they will go after you

    try very hard, you'll be constantly barraged by enemy armies until you're crying and cowering inside your city walls

    Not if you can put an army of auxiliaries + 3 scorpions on a bridge

    But yes, given the inexhaustible supply of mercs and AI's cash bonuses, VH is very far from "realism" It's a game of whack-a-mole. Then again, anything lower than VH is way too easy once the human player gets his economy going. Go figure.

    One thing - Attacking them in their homeland and then asking for Peace, makes you untrustworthy in their (AI) eyes... AI actually checks if you made transgressions into their lands too... Try not launching the counteroffensive, but just guard your borders for few turns and destroy whatever they send at you. Anyway, if you play VH, AI is just nuts..
