    Icon5 Roman Reform?

How do i get the Roman legionaries? I've taken 10+ huge city's and many many villages, yet i can't recruit Cohorts or Legionaries.

Do i have to wait until a certain year or are the some regions i must capture? I know that in regular Rome Total War all you need is to get one huge city, but that didn't work as i thought in this mod.

Thanks for the Awesome mod tho.

Please see the Reform Preview for historical notes on the various reforms. Note:Some of the reform triggers have been updated since the preview was first published.

    SPQR

    Marian Reforms Conditions:

You must have three huge cities in Italy, and have control of following provinces:

    Africa 4/10
    Sicily 5/5
    Islands (Sardinia, Corsica, Melita) 2/3
    Iberia 9/16
    Gaul 1/19
    Greece 0/17
    Balkans 3/21 (for Illyria)
    Asia Minor 1/5

If you meet all of the aforementioned conditions, the reforms should trigger in a few turns' time.

Having a blast with this nice game here - however don't seem to be able to trigger Marian reforms. 9 cities in Iberia, 4 in Illyria, 1 Gaul, Africa, Sicilia and Islands are fine too. Rhodos does count as Asia Minor, right? 3 huge cities in Italy, sure. Waited for >20 turns now...
Anybody can see the problem? Thanks in advance...

I thought that you also needed 1 city in Greece. It's worth a try, anyway

What happened with the patch that was discussed about a month ago that was going to fix the reform triggers? Has it been issued?

Maurits explained in another thread that there has been a problem with a CTD in the campaign, so the release of the patch unfortunately had to be delayed.
"Pompeius, after having finished the war against Mithridates, when he went to call at the house of Poseidonios, the famous teacher of philosophy, forbade the lictor to knock at the door, as was the usual custom, and he, to whom both the eastern and the western world had yielded submission, ordered the fasces to be lowered before the door of science."

Yeah, it was meant to be released before I went to university, and it was almost ready, but we didn't quite manage to get it done, and it's been a bit too hectic for me to be able to get the last little bit done. But as I say, it is almost done, so it hopefully won't be long

Nope, no Marian Reforms. Occupied Ambrakia to double check, no, nothing. Is there a way to trigger them manually, eg is there a cheat? What if I manipulated the savegame, how would I go about that? Oh I want the reforms so badly, I'm very disappointed that they don't trigger. Don't want to start a new game when the new patch is out, I invested so much time on this one already, and this is great fun... Help very much appreciated!

Thanks for the link, I will try to mod the background script tonight. Did I understand that correctly (no experience with modding RTW): base_reform will do the job? Is it a building in RTR VII too - do you have to trigger it on FactionTurnStart? Sth along these lines? Thanks for helping!

    monitor_event SettlementTurnStart SettlementName ROMA
    console_command create_building Roma base_reform
    terminate_monitor
    end_monitor

    or rather
    monitor_event FactionTurnStart FactionType ROME_REPUBLIC
    and FactionIsLocal
    console_command ***? ROME_REPUBLIC base_reform
    end_monitor

The first one should do the job.

Hail (Caligula) Caesar! Thank you, it worked. For the sake of completeness, here's how you do it

go to RTRVII\Data\scripts\show_me\ and make a backup copy of "background_script". Open "background_script" and insert after
    ;;;;;;;;;;;;
    ; 1.0 Misc ;
    ;;;;;;;;;;;;

    the following:

    monitor_event SettlementTurnStart SettlementName ROMA
    console_command create_building ROMA base_reform
    advance_advice_thread MarianReformsThread
    terminate_monitor
    end_monitor

save, start a game, end turn. Reforms are there. Save, quit the game, replace "background_script" with your copy. Start game and have fun!

And by the way, I guess there is some misinformation floating around:
    if I_CompareCounter RomeIberianRegions > 8
    if I_CompareCounter RomeGreekRegions = 0
    if I_CompareCounter RomeAfricanRegions > 3
    if I_CompareCounter RomeBalticRegions > 2 # Balkan/Adriatic
    if I_CompareCounter RomeGallicRegions > 0
    if I_CompareCounter RomeSicilyRegions > 4
    if I_CompareCounter RomeIslandRegions > 1
    if I_CompareCounter RomeAsiaMinorRegions = 0 #!! not needed
    if I_CompareCounter RomeItalianHugeCities > 2
and small town count here, right?, who would have guessed!

Thanks again, now onwards with my fun game. Increased action_points to ~200, I'm having a blast! No more 1-2 year by ship to Iberia, or to the Sicily by foot from Rome. AI is doing great with that. 2 full stacks of Gauls appearing out of nowhere in front of Mediolanum, sounds historic to me. (Playing on VH/H - Aedui are overpowered (see my screenshot), they need some german tribes to stop their expansion east! Attalos and Averni giving me a hard time too, but thats ok) I strongly recommend considering increasing action points in next patch!

I've been trying to do this as well! and It didn't work, I'll try again now, see how it goes!

how do I increase the action points? (I'm guessing that is another way of saying movement), I've been a loud proponent of increased movement points for ages, and would like to try this out!

strange! It didn't work when I tried it last night "Took Caligula's instructions, and changed AIGON to ROMA and Aigon to Roma, and nothing happened, but it worked now! thank you!

I'll see if I can't find the action points on my own, but you are welcome to point me in the right direction, if it doesn't take two years to sail to Iberia, it would make sense to take out Carthage's Iberian holdings (and their mining income) before attacking North Africa (which would otherwise be the smart move, if it takes 2 years to sail to Iberia).

    Edit:
Hmmm... I found action points in descr_character, and changed it to 200, much easier to move around generals and ships, but and movement was increased overall, but armies containing more than just a general, and navies carrying troops, are still moving much slower than what I'd like. How do I change this?

ok, so armies are also affected by the value I just increased, that was what I was wondering! :-)

200 is fine for now, I can protect northern italy with essentially one army led by a praetor, I don't need several armies along that single front, just a steady line of reinforcements. The taking of Carthago Nova and Illici was also successful, as was the shipping over of a praetor to take the consuls place, sinc the consul is now 58 years old.

    hmmm... noticed something interesting!
When I first "got" (forced) the Reforms, the cohorts trained all had golden weapons, no matter the level of blacksmith in the settlement, now, some (or perhaps most) of the cohorts have NO weapon or armour bonus, no matter what level of blacksmith or tailor in the settlement...

Alright, I am confused. Does the RTR marian reforms work in the game or not? If not someone needs to please mention that in the downlink thread and how to get it to work. Thanks!

AFAIK, the roman reforms as is doesn't trigger properly for everyone in the current version, this is being fixed for the next patch, but you can force the reforms using the instructions above.
