Pics and video are old. The article is new. It's the first article I've seen dedicated to the diplomacy system. Nothin spectacular realy. They seem to be realy caught up in how cool it is that there is 'feedback' from other factions. Of coarse there seems to have been no substantive change in the way the system works, no new mechanics, no fundemental code they can claim to have changed in order to make the system better. It seems to be a superficial overhaul.
if you read the article you would notice that it says "the designers at Creative Assembly have gone about and revamped the diplomacy system from scratch."Originally Posted by hsimoorb
so to my knowledge, that means that they DID rewrite the fundamental code.
I have to agree with hsimoorb not much that is new that really matters to me.
One thing that I noticed though is that they mentiond the AI taking there's and your's financial and military power into account during a diplomantic session. Which could mean the end of the "I've got you down to 2 provinces and you still wont surrender!?" nonsense we all remember from RTW, this sounds like a step in the right direction for CA.![]()
However just incase I hope they put the force_diplomancy cheat back in.

Well I haven't seem some of those, like the diplomacy screens.
They couldn't think of anything better than "So-so"? I'm losing faith in our brothers in Kangarooland.
dude, this looks great to me. i mean it really looks great. does nobody agree with me?
Looks lovely, and now we have diplomatic relations. Like so-so etc. That should mean an ally does just go off and invade you non stop out of nowhere.

The diplomacy screens aren't old. They're the first we've seen, at least, I've seen.

Yes, but when the demo is released severall months before the final product, many things can be changed.True Chuffy, but they do give a good idea as to how the game is going to be right? Otherwise, what would be the point in having a demo

apparently theres gonna be voice overs for the diplomats so that should be cool.

I like that they are gonna keep a record now like the "neutral for 0 turns" line.
though I am always a sceptic as to CA previews, but now FOR THE FIRST TIME, INTRODUCING

well maybe not too much, but still I think that's a great improvement over what we had in RTW.

"A large amount of dialogue was recorded and we've significant upped the number of accents included in the game compared to previous Total War games, so when you deal with the French diplomatically, you will hear a Frenchman delivering the dialogue.
Does this mean actual french or just french accent? I hope they won't be overly silly, that'd just kill the atmosphere.
"K-NIGH-TS!"
I would have prefered a total overhaul of the diplomatic system.
But it looks like the tweaks they've added should improve things.
Bob: well, French wouldn't be good either, unless they do it in middel french. And I don't see CA hiring linguists for all factions...
Excellent, this looks a helluva alot more polished than RTW's crappy system. Let's hope the AI lives up to the presentation. I have a good feeling about this though.
It would of being nice to have heard that once you have cut a deal, that the AI will actually live it out, with some degree of good sense. As opposed to attacking me one turn and sueing for peace the next and repeating this cycle. Or factions that don't honour alliances for more than a few turns(unless to deceive) etc, etc.Originally Posted by Fenian
