How to remove small town population cap, and / or remove the stone walls around small towns

Tittle says it all. I love this mod, I've played numerous other mods for the total war games, from Rome, to Shogun II. I've played the most mods for Rome however, and this mod is the best, always was, and continues to dominate. The breadth and depth of this mod is simply breathtaking. The historical research poured in, the unit pool accuracy and variety are the best of any mod I've played. I love the addition of the small towns. That said, one thing that bugs me is that the small towns have the -49 - 51 population growth wired in. I would like them to be 'small towns' but ones that can grow no less, say a port town in a great location for your Empire...

    • How do you remove the population growth cap from the small towns?

Ideally I'd love it if the small towns could grow, probably along a smaller building tree branch, ports, farmers markets, basic cultivation, etc. Up till a certain population rate is reached, then you see the traditional building tree branch. I also like the idea that small towns can have larger recruiting roles, providing the citizens to fill your armies without draining your main cities of precious population. Special Barracks or similar, and I realize that 400 isn't going to fill many 240 man units, but with growth the option becomes available...

    • I would also like to know how to remove all the stone walls around the small towns.

Just don't think the small towns should have walls on par with the capital, which seems true with smaller empires. No walls seems ideal, with the option of putting up a palisade or something.

Any help offered would be greatly appreciated, I'll do what I can to return the favor. Even simply saying which files to edit, would at least point me in the right direction.

Thanks all, have a great night!

Can anyone help with this? I've been through a lot of files about walls, but don't seem to see which ones dictate that the villages get stone walls. I haven't been able to find anything about the population growth cap. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, I can't help you with this. Anyway, I don't understand why you would want to remove one of the major features of the mod

I don't want to remove the villages, just don't think they should have stone walls with boiling oil and all, around a town of 400 people, nor do I really understand why the population cap is in place? The addition of the villages and the more focused map is a great feature, why nerf them with the population cap?

The idea of these Mini-Regions is to represent important military fortresses (hence the stone walls) or towns that were famous for e.g. mines or a port but didn't become very large, like the Major Regions. The idea of the difference is to create a dynamical environment in which a large city has several smaller towns in its neighbourhood which need to be conquered too to secure the province.

Eh, you can build forts with Generals, Id prefer it stay that way, I don't like the idea of static castles or forts like in Medieval 2, plus we can't do anything militarily with these villages anyway. They are small towns, I just think they should be more representative of a small town. Maybe a wooden palisade, most likely nothing, and what would hurt letting them grow at 2, 3%? They'll always remain minor regions, that way they wouldn't feel 'nerfed' like what do i do with these regions I've worked so hard to conquer...

Easy but must start a new campaign.

    1) Remove stone wall from minor region in descr_strat
    2) Add hidden_resource in descr_regions for minor regions
    3) Add the hidden_resource requirement in export_descr_buildings.txt for stone walls and above.

*This provided the hard coded limit for hidden_resources used in RTR VII is not met yet.

The population cap is in descr_regions. There will be a figure on each region that reads something like -100. Change it to 1 or 2.
