What are your thoughts on this video card...

Im going to be getting this video card:

for my birthday, What do ya'll think of it?

I currently have a x300 PCI express 256 mb, and Im wondering if its gonna be a good step up. Im also getting 2gb or Crucial ram, What do you think of my card?

That's a great VC. Make sure you have adequate power and good cooling and you will be very happy. That is an eggcellent price as well, good to see they have come down in price too. The X1800XT will make it look like you didn't even have a VC when that X300 was installed! Only suggestion is get the same VC from Sapphire and I bet it will be even less expensive, with the same high quality....

Yeah, I saw the Sapphire, Its a difference of like $8 I think, I just went with the ATI because its so brand-name for only $8 more. I understand that its the same card, but Im not paying for it

Yep, thats the card I hard. It is noice. The most graphically intensive game I played with it was, I'd say, BF 2. Every graphics option as high as it could go, it ran without a single slowdown. No choppiness, no stuttering, just pure smooth sailing. And pretty too. Oh, and Oblivion as well, everything at max, no slowdowns. Simply put, its a very noice card. With 2 gigs of ram on you as well, (same as I had), its great.

I recently picked up a 7900 GT 256 MB card though, so, Ill have to see how they compare.

Im going to have 3gb's of Ram

I currently only have 1gb in my pc, but with this upgrade I get in early august, Im going to be runnin the X1800xt, 3gb's of ram, and the rest of my pc is only about 2 years old. Plus, the card and my mobo are PCI express

Gotta love it, my other pc only used AGP and my x800 AGP compared to my x300 PCI, was insane how much worse the x800 was.

Farve, I tried 3GB of RAM and it was a mistake. What kind of mainboard and processor do you have? My AMD processor and socket 939 mainboard couldn't handle all the slots being filled....

Since your processor and mainboard are Intel your probobly using DDR2 memory so you should be OK with 3GBs.....
