Editing the show hud date

I know how to edit the hud to show the date, but it doesn't stay edited. I have to re-edit it each time I turn on my computer. What I 'm doing wrong - why doesn't it stay edited?

In the mod folder, the default cfg file is edited by the mod team and stays edited. But in the "medieval2 preferences cfg" file it's not there and I have to keep putting it in. I can go and add it to the medieval2 pref file but it doesn't stay edited. Without editing that file the hud date will not show.

Edit the one in the mod and it should stay.
Otherwise, edit the vanilla cfg and set it read-only.
