Right now the cream of my army are probably my Katana Samurai veterans I have several of those, I bring them along with Naginata Samurai, and my Veteran Yari Cavalry. Sometimes I will bring 1 or 2 units of no dachi samurai (who are heavily vetted in charge and attack). I don't usually bring too many Archer units, though I will occasionally.
They probably would, though I don't usually face many opponents using them and when I do they aren't used very effectively. I usually just ignore them. If they are using a horse heavy army (horse archers, cavalry) I'd just sit on the buildings and start the timer. They can shoot all they want, my Katana Samurai will then, sadly, become meat shields for my naginata units.
Really a work in progress, I use armies that are effective for players I usually fight against, and this army gets me more wins than you would think.![]()

no guns ? hmmm
Well, I usually just play multiplayer on my traditional avatar, but speaking of guns I will usually, if playing on my FoTS avatar, bring White Bear Infantry 1 or 2 units of spear levy and yari ki. Not much I know, but my FoTS avatar also hardly has anything unlocked and I don't really have any good veterans.![]()
I don't think you can have ideal armies, since you always have to compromise based on availability and points.
You can have optimized, purpose-built and/or themed ones, and occasionally ad hoc choices.
Eats, shoots, and leaves.
I think that he just wants you to post your army.
It's not really a discussion about ideal armies. Whatev.

I don't like to reopen threads, but I honestly think there are some legit points in the original thread, which I'll reopen.
Here is mine new build DLC and naginata units /no dachi as core, pretty tough and balanced.
I have dojo capturing commandos (wako) late sword cav attack, 125 ranged guns, very resilient core.
Army B is exactly the same (dlc units have replenish) but have mtd gunners and 2 x bow cav as mobile ranged division instead of this, stronger but immobile.
