    Default Problem with Recruiting Units

    Hello.

First of all, let me say that I freaking love the difficulty of this mod, It's amazing the work you guys pulled off.

Now, The reason I'm making this topic is because I'm having a little trouble to get some Early Professional MIlitary units.

I know that they are VERY limited, But, the problem is I don't even got 1 to produce.

I make the right building, I'm about in the 120 turn, but I've never been able to create, for example, pasive Crossbow, or Knights of Santiago (I'm playing As Portuguese).

I'm Checking the information in the Recuitment tab, and it says (Turn to next available unit:9), and more below says it reached the max unit.

Again, What max unit? I've got 0 of those units in the entire map. same goes for Feudal foot knights, Light men at arms, Pasive crossbowmen, ARCHERS (REALLY), Knights of Santiago. Not even 1 unit of those Within my army (Any Army).

Is this a bug of the game, Or something I am missing?

Thank you for your help, And Viva a Reconquista!!

Yes, I've Picked The Options that make the game the most difficult possible.

It's the Version IV I think.

I dont think it is save game compatible.

And I dont know if it is bug, I very rarely play with BYG cuz I have traumas from SS 6.1. Atleast in newest one you do need to have member of war council in settlement to recruit something more effective than bunch of peasants.

It's not a bug - you really need to read the BGR IV manual (and BGR V if you want to play that). They tell you lots that you need to know (you'll find out the rest the hard way! ). For one, the issue you are having leads me to believe that you haven't got someone with the relevant recruitment authorisation in the settlement - this freezes the countdown to the next available unit of specific classes of units, and you have to leave a general in the settlement for long enough to be able to recruit these units; if he leaves, you can't recruit them as there's no one around with the authorisation to have those soldiers trained (and not every general will have the necessary authorisation).

BGR V is not an update of BGR IV, it's a completely different version and is not save-game compatible. It's only Late era, since the huge amount of work it took Byg just to make it in the first place (I'm working on a submod for it, but that's Late era only also).

    hum...

I've been checking that HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE Guide (god damnit, I don't have that much patience to read that much for a feature in the game), but I can't seem to understand how to get a General to gain those traits.

And the Jpeg on Imageshack is sooo confusing.

Can you Explain to me Like I'm really dumb?

English Is not my main language, so that kinda setsback my total understanding of the guide.

Try moving a war council member with professional training staff into the castle where you want to recruit. You can find out which generals are war council members by checking their traits and ancillaries. Your faction leader is always a member. You have 1-2 additional members which can be recognized by having the trait "War council member" and the ancillary showing a sword. They should also by default have the professional training staff, an ancillary whose icon shows some soldiers with pikes (or halberds) held upwards.

Also make sure the region where the castle is located has enough religious support. Convert 90% to your faith to make sure.

Then leave your war council member in the castle and watch the counters for unit availability go down each turn. Once a counter reaches zero, the unit will appear for recruitment. Always make sure your war council member remains in the castle at the end of the turn, or all counters for professional units will be reset.

Also champy, it would be useful, as you now have bgriv an bgrv, if you stated which you are currently asking about.

The Jpeg reference table won't make sense on its own, it's a quick reference for those who have read the manual. It is for bgrIV only.

To be fair on you I think if you don't have the patience to read the manual then you are not going to enjoy the game.

    Hello Byg.

I'm honored for you to post in my topic.

First of all, It's not really about patience, it's about the amount of information given for the mod.

The features about food hunger and resupply into a city, with the noble's money, that's what I really like, I mean, as the Topic and guide says, It's to retract the feudal ages, how lords and dukes and marshals would function in medieval time.

And hey, Don't tell me what I like and don't like .

Anywho, I'm beginning to understand the logic of recruitment.

Thank you for all the assistance guys, It's a pity that I lost my campaign of 120 turns

The Mongol horde was begginning to invade everything arround them.

Oh and you can't imagine what The byzantine empire did AND the egipcians. It was preety amazing.

You should play BGR II first, at least there you can recruit units with anyone.

Nah, definitely BGR V first. Always start with the easiest...

Disclaimer: This post is meant to be taken in a light-hearted manner, not as a serious suggestion. Should anyone attempt BGR V first thinking it is the easiest, I take no responsibility whatever the outcome.

I've heard that BGR is not compatible with Early era campaign.

    It's true isn't it?

And hey, To see which is easier and which is harder it's just to read the Information

I'm Not going to change BGR difficulty, I'm sticking with the version IV (Can't choose Version V in early era campaign), and hey, Still having loads of Fun.

About the screenshots, I can't handle them for now, Because, as I said, When I tryed to update the BGR, It ruined my Save game file.

I've started all over again, and this time I've chosen the English (gotta love those archers).

Although, I changed 1 thing, Instead on going with Savage AI, I chose Gracul AI, And that AI is like, Rampage mode, On Hard Difficulty.

Anyway, I'll give some Screenshots from now on into this post if you desire.

    Just give me the word.
