    Default CTD... please help!

So I first got Shogun 2 around May and was never able to play it because it would give me random CTD and simply state "shogun 2 has stopped working." There was never any exact time that this would happen, it was completely random.

Well now I have upgraded the PC, everything is new except the case. I still get random CTD with the same message. Or it will just alt-tab itself automatically to the desktop and when I click the game in the task bar to bring it back up, it just changes the windows cursor back to the Shogun cursor but won't actually bring the game up. From there, I have to alt-ctrl-del and end process on shogun 2. Its making the game unplayable and seems to be happening more often. I used to get a couple hours of play sometimes, but now I get to play maybe 2 or 3 turns before it happens.

    I have tried:
    Running Admin
Verify Integrity (50% of the time when I do that it finds a file that it has to re-download for some reason
Uninstall and reinstall both Steam and Shogun completely
    Update Audio Drivers
    Update video Drivers
    Play offline
    Turn off in-game community
Play with both DX9 and 11

I just dont understand, same issues with basically 2 completely different computers. New OS and everything. Heres my DX:

    Default Re: CTD... please help!

Have you installed/updated the motherboard drivers?
Have you activated your copy of Win 7, and run Windows Update manually installing all software options?

    Default Re: CTD... please help!

I have installed all of the motherboard drivers that I could. For some reason when I try to run the bios driver, it states that it is not compatible with 64-bit windows but there are no other options on their site.

As far as windows...yes it asked me to activate when I first put it on, and I have every update except for the optional "bing desktop" thing.

I did not install the Bing Desktop, either, nor the Bing Toolbar.
    What antivirus are you using?
Have you deleted the scripts folder and verified the game cache since these updates?

I am using Avast! Antivirus. Ive tried the game with both the anti-virus and firewall turned off. Still didn't help. I did try the script folder, read that somewhere else. I managed to figure out how to get the bios update to work, but it still did not fix the issue. I also saw that Nvidia released new drivers yesterday...didn't fix. It has gotten pretty bad now. I no long get the crash that says "stopped working" probably because I can't even play the game long enough to get it anymore. I have been having that second issue way more now. Most of the time I can't even get on the game long enough to load a game, it will crash at the main menu. It is doing what I explained earlier. The game will alt-tab itself, no message is displayed. When I try and click the game in the task bar to reopen it, the cursor goes from windows arrow to Shogun arrow, but the game won't display. The game is technically up, because I can blindly click the buttons on the main menu without seeing them, for example if I click in the bottom left when I have the Shogun cursor, the "Steam News" thing will open. So the game is open, I just can't see it. If I hit alt-ctrl-del, it shows the game as "running." I've tried right clicking it in the task manager and hitting "bring to front" but that doesn't work. I really just don't understand whats going on.

I am going to try deleting scripts again, running cache, and see if DX9 will get it to work. I haven't tried DX9 with the new Nvidia drivers and bios update.

Anything pertaining to the game in the Event logs?
Have you tried making a new User account and run it as Administrator?

Ok so doing that other stuff cleared the minimizing bug, allowing me to play long enough to get the "stopped working" crash again. So that is still there. Event log? Where can I find that at? The stopped working windows never tells me anything. I haven't tried a different user, guess I will try that

Ok I found my windows "action center" and I can see the 500 "shogun has stopped working" critical errors. Checking for solutions does nothing. It is 3 errors all at the same time. 2 of them are the same:

    Description
Faulting Application Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War SHOGUN 2\Shogun2.exe

    Problem signature
    Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

    Application Version: 1.1.0.0
    Application Timestamp: 50198980

    Additional Information 3: 0a9e
    Additional Information 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789

    This one is different:

    Description

    Problem signature
    Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

In Control Panel\Add-Remove Programs, are C++2005, C++2008, and .Net 4 listed?

Ill check it out when its back up. In the mean time, I did a general google search for the crash code: c0000005 Appcrash and found this link: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...ntdll-dll.html since I did have daemon tools installed. Also did the SFC scan which found bad sys files. So, I will see if this is fixed.

Unfortunately, I tried playing the game after doing all this in DX11, which gave me the minimizing bug again. So I am pretty sure I narrowed the minimizing bug to DX11... about to try the game again in DX9 with these new fixes.

Maybe Nvidia screwed something up with the new drivers running Shogun in DX11, because I never had this minimizing bug before while running DX11. It is completely new...within the past few days.

I have ALWAYS had the "stopped working" crash though.

Loading in DX9 now after applying SFC scan.... more to come...

It can be a stress test. The only way to find out is try it.
If it does not work, check your temps and voltages.

    Good, should work ingame, then.
If not, check your voltages and temps. It will be a stresstest even ingame.
