    Default - watchtower -

Ave senators and Roman citizens my greetings also to you noble foreign

for me the thing i hate most in Rome TW that do not have the ability to destroy the "Watchtowers" because sometimes when i take a province
i found several "Watchtowers" not in strategic places!
i same desired that several mods i already try! solve this problemme but none helped,

so i proposed in this topic to let or gives the option to destroy the "Watchtowers" or move closer
to your new frontiers maybe even to be replaced by small "forward positions" with a limited garrison to defend.

    thank you
for the senate and the people of Rome.

There haven't been watchtowers in game since medieval 2, you can now see all territory you own, as well as a small distance outside. If you want to see farter, you have to use a spy (which makes sense, I've never heard of people being able to see 100 miles into enemy territory)
If you rep me, leave your name. I'll look more kindly on your future transgressions.

Same goes with many of these "suggestions" commonly commented about. Previous Total War games have already fixed these things to an extent.

There should be no permanent buildings or building that can't be destroyed and replaced with other buildings. When I play RS, it is annoying as hell that I can't destroy those barbarian top level government buildings and replace them with one of my own. Same goes for the watchtowers. Why were the watchtowers permanent and the forts temporary?

Why would you want to destroy watchtowers? They doesn't cost anything in upkeep. Hopefully in R2TW we will be able to see everything that happends in our own territories so we don't need to build them everywhere.

This was an absolutely thoughtless response. I'm in a game now and there's a watchtower in the exact spot where I need to build a fort, so to keep the bad guys out I have to station an army there instead of a few holding troops.

There should be an option to destroy watch towers. Especially if the enemy owns a province, that way you can launch an easier suprise attack. Now against AI it's really not that hard surprise them, but now that we have multiplayer camapaigns, it seems more important. Also there is the issue of building forts on watchtowers. This can be fixed by adding a demolish watchtower and upgrade watchtower to fort button.

As said, there is no need since there is already an improved system in place since SHOGUN 2 (regarding watchtowers).

I would like to see forts coming back and having a "demolish" may be unnecessary if the forts are not permanent, though it would be a must if permanent watchtowers were to be implemented.

Somebody actually uses forts? Is it really that great to be besieged to death? I take a watchtower over a fort any day.

I do. Using forts helps me consolidate and defend my kingdom.

But I agree. Empire had a much better system, Napoleon and Shogun II the best.

We likely will since its been in the last 3.5 total wars games.
    My mods
-Mod Leader for the Wheel Of Time This is not the beginning, but it is a beginning
-Mod Leader for Shogun 2: Foreign Invasion if you want a mod with alot of units this is for you, not only is there the 40 units CA made theres planned to be atleast 177 NEW units when its done.
-Modder in the World War I and Shogun II project. The only full scale mod for FOTS and it plays nothing like FOTS. FOTS may have Gatling guns, WW1&S2 has tekidanto samurai, SNLF, MGs, kisho snipers, assault infantry(shotguns) just to name a few.

You must be able to see everything in your territory, but how about small watchtowers popping up around the main city? Just like small industrial towns that pop up in FoTS, 2-3 of watchtowers should pop up and stay there, and should be seen in the battle like Medieval II and RTW.

    1. Watchtowers do cost, both by building them and in wages when paying upkeep for your scouts/auxilia and buildings attached to it!
    2. Why you can see far around? Simple because scouts and outriders scan the area around the watchtower.
    3. You should be able to destroy or occupy enemy watchtower, maybe possibility of putting small siege?
    4. When having a watchtower, you should be able to upgrade it by building more houses to new/more enlisted scouts to live! More scouts give bigger area of sight!

    Pay heed my words!

edit; And goddamnit let the forts be, you guys never had a real fort battle!
