    Default Introduction to Programming

Hey guys, I'm going to be offering an introductory programming course using Visual Basic starting in the coming weeks. If you're interested, let me know. If you're unsure, keep reading!

    Course Objectives

The objectives of my course are simple, to instill you with a confidence in not only Visual Basic and the Microsoft development suite, but programming as a whole. Being able to think like a programmer is a fundamental first step in moving forward and I believe VB provides a great learning environment for that. Speaking of which, I'm sure you're wondering

    Why Visual Basic?

Well, for starters, Visual Basic is a modern, high level language that is not only powerful but relatively easy to learn. Don't be intimidated by it's classification as a "high level language", the lower you go, the closer you are to computer-speak. This course is aimed at the crowd with very little or no prior coding experience.

There will be ten classes that consist of a brief lesson followed by an assignment making use of covered materials. I know that this may seem ambitious for a TWCU course, but give me one or two weeks per assignment and I will make coders out of you.

    Anyone interested?

Alright, I'll leave sign-ups until next Friday. If we get more than ten or fifteen people I'll try to start the ball rolling and try to integrate stragglers as they come along.

I believe I have a minimum number of required participants, we're getting there, though!

I'd be interested in doing this, although I am starting university next week so my time may be a bit more limited.

That's fine. I'm willing to work with you guys. I'm thinking something along the lines of one lesson/assignment per two weeks. The first being tool installment and getting any issues worked out, only skimming the surface of doing any coding.

We need the board type setup going on. I'm still writing up the lesson plan outline for the moderator, but I have the first two lessons ready to go as soon as we get the green light. I also think we need more people, I'll let you guys know when I hear something. Just keep this thread subscribed.

Only thing close to coding(or anything close to that) ever in my experince in modding is VJass in bloody wc3 mods and it was sort of confusing at first, but eventually gave a better outcome than standard GUI. and i was 11 at the time now I'm older.

How much time do you think this would take? I don't have much of it between school, wrestling practice, and part time work over the weekends. Not to mention all my homework.

It's only as much time as you would insist on putting into it. These projects should only take about 1-3 hours, and since we're all busy I'll only be sending out lessons and assignments every week or two, depending on everyone's availability.
