to be honest, in every history written, for a large group to be united, there must be some external threat so they need to unite for survival, yes, that means humanity is more or less still rely in their basic instinct of survival. Unless there is some kind of alien invasion threat, I seriously doubt if humanity can be united.

Ye si think they will. At the end of times humanity will stand as one
And that one world government attempt is what will cause the end, but I believe we'll be able to stop that madness before it comes to that.
The only unity that is desireable, is the unity in agreeing to disagreeing, agreeing to keep peace so as to remove every single argument the NWO psychopaths may attempt to put forth for a one world tyranny government ruled by the corrupt Jewish NWO bankers.
Eventualy we will either destroy ourselves or unite as one.
Eventually, yes. However no time soon. Probably talking 1000's of years here, maybe even longer.
I dont think countries like Somalia or Afghanistan would unite. They are not civilezed yet...but in case of alien invasion (even if i dont think they exists) i think most of countres would unite.
Sauron will unite us all.
I hold the optimistic viewpoint that eventually the world would be so globalized that it would be stupid not to unite or have stronger centralized institutions that run part or all of the government/economies of the world.

I'm inclined to say yes if only for the reason that I firmly believe we are not alone in the universe and that therefore one day, however far away that day may be, we will have to present a united front.
I'm inclined to say no because no matter what, there are always dissenter. All of humanity is a fairly absolute term. For all of humanity to be united there can be no voices of disagreement, and even when facing an alien threat or an alien galaxy will there be people who feel humanity must not stand as one.
So the unfortunate truth is no, we won't achieve ultimate unification, but we may well achieve the more general concept.
I will say this, though: for unification to happen, we cannot have religion. It's the main agent of division in the present day.
I hope not. Conflict is necessary to fuel technological innovation.
Humanity as a whole? Probably not, unless there is some alien invasion, like other people pointed out. However, if we humans continue into space colonization, I think it is feasible that Earth could unite into a single government. It is the concept that, as traveling becomes faster and more efficient, that states can exist as larger entities.

They give birth astride of a grave, the light gleams an instant, then it's night once more.
I think never. An external threat (alien invasion) may be an incentive to unite, but I foresee a Half-Life 2 scenario where there will be collaborators and resistance groups.
The same with a world government. People in different locations may have interests that may collide. But most of all instead of a horizontal conflict (nations versus nations), there might be a big vertical conflict spanning the whole world (more or less) between the poorer classes and the rich classes of which the latter profit from this globalization. It's a marxist vision, but not an unlikely one. That is if people are aware of this world government of course.
