- County of Holland is now Duchy of Holland
- County of Toscana is now Duchy of Toscana
- Viscountcy of Spoleto is now Duchy of Spoleto
- Viscountcies of Milan and Verona are now Counties of Milan and Verona.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

By the blessing of His Imperial Majesty, Otto III, the Duchy of Bohemia is officially elevated to the Kingdom of Bohemia, the third kingship to exist within the Holy Roman Empire. Duke of Bohemia, Boleslau III, shall be crowned the first King of Bohemia in the Imperial City of Prague. All Lords and Ladies of the Empire are invited to the ceremony within St. Vitus' Cathedral.

A Tragedy!

Emperor Otto III, accompanied by Pope Sylvester II, had traveled to Ravenna to do penance in the monastery of Sant'Apollinare in Classe and to summon his army. While headed south to Rome, the Emperor suffered a sudden and severe fever. He died in a castle near Civita Castellana. He was 21 years old and had reigned as an independent ruler for just under six years, having nominally reigned for under 19 years.

Tuscana-Spoleto War - War of Italian Conquest

On 1002 AD the diplomatic scenario was in chaos on the Italian Kingdom. After the Emperor dead all of the Italian nobles started their campaign for the throne. For Duke Otto this was not acceptable, he was the only legitimate man to hold the throne. With this the time to broke the alliance with the south came, it was not acceptable for Duke Otto I that his supposed ally was running on the elections against him. So, on an early morning of February the alliance with the south was broken, a month latter, war was declared!

The word spread quickly, Duke Otto wanted to make clear that those who are with him will be fairly rewarded. Those who dare to join his enemies are to smashed!

The King of Italy, Cesare I, has hereby declared Duke Otto of Toscana an enemy of the state. His titles, wealth and land will be stripped from him and he will be viewed as a rebel. The Duchy of Toscana is dissolved and the provinces of:

Corsica
Pionibino
Siena
Firenze
Urbino
Ravena
Bologna
Pisa
Modena
Lucca
Parma
Cremona

are now independent provinces, each ruled by its own baron, not by Otto of Toscana. The levies of these provinces are ordered to leave Otto's rebel army and return home.

King Cesare I has named King Robert I of the Germans his succesor, should the King of Italy die. This decree cannot be removed by anyone but the Emperor.
