    Icon1 Favorite Region to Play

So I have found myself introducing a friend to SS and I explained that I thought that the region your faction plays in determines more of how your game plays out for the first 50 turns than the actual faction you play. These groups are just my opinion, and of course there is variety within these groups, but they do seem to play similarly to me. It got me thinking about which regions are most popular amongst the SS community beyond just factions (ERE, England, etc.) So without further waffling from me, which region do you find yourself playing most and why?

    1)Iberian (Portugal, Castile, Aragon)
    2)Central Europe (France, HRE)
    3)Italian (Genoa, Venice, Sicily)
4)Northern Europe (England, Scotland, Norway, Denmark)
    5)Eastern Europe (Poland, Hungary)
6)Far Eastern Non-Catholic (Lithuania, Novograd, Kiev, etc.)
7)Levant (Selujiks, Fatamids, Moors) *Moors maybe Iberian instead...

I've often found myself asking the same question, and ultimately it comes down to Iberia and Far Eastern Europe to me. I almost clicked Iberia because the struggle to see who can rule over all the Spaniards is riveting at times. Three catholic kingdoms can work together to drive out the moors, but ultimately, only one can remain... unless you make vassals out of the others. That's another fun way to go about it.

But I feel most at home playing in the far east (and I am kinda including Anatolia and the Caucus regions here). Playing as the Byzantines in hopes of restoring the glory that was once Rome is, of course, incredibly motivating. However establishing Kiev or Georgia as powerful kingdoms has its own powerful, imbedded narrative. Seljuqs too.

I always end up playing as either an Iberian or Italian faction. as i only play catholic factions really.

I like the smaller nations that i can go build up rather than bigger ones (IE HRE, ERE or even France) that mixed with the power struggles Venice/Genoa/Sicily for control over Italy. or Aragon/Spain/Portugal for Iberia and add to that other people to fight (ERE/HRE or moors/France) just makes it more exiting.

For me its a difficult Choice between central Europe, Italy and Iberia. I clicked Iberia because my recent Portugal Castile and Aragon games have all brought me great joy how ever my heart still lies with Genoa and The Holy Roman Empire.

I just looked this up and it's 25 posts and a month after registration I believe. I was curious too as I just signed up last night...(just re-installed M2TW+SS6.4) after a couple years away from the game!

I've always been a 'guest' visitor of these forums, but hadn't actually registered/posted before...hello all

I voted for Eastern Europe without reading the post, although I usually play as Kiev or Novgorod, sometimes as France, Scotland and Moors though.

I usually play a mix of British Isles or Scandinavia for ports and quick movement/raiding using ships like the vikings did

It looks like Italy is the most popular so far, I wasn't expecting that, even though I have had several really good games as Genoa. To you folks who chose Italy, what do you like about it so much? Action right from the get-go?

Usually plays in the north, with either Norway or England.
Norway cause it's where I'm from and England just because they are badass.

I find England, Norway, and Denmark fun, but I tend to get bored with them quickly since they are so isolated and protected once they take out the rebels and their first opponent.

Try Khwarezmian and find down! Challenge the Golden Horde and Timurid directly!

I must say playing the Byzantine Empire that is surrounded by enemies and is in a rivalry with the mighty muslim empires was the most fun for me in StSt. I also really like the map and the wealthy cities in the ''Far East'', so I voted for that area

That was sort of my thought. I like Italy because you're right in the middle of everything, plus your cities are big enough that you can access the good stuff quickly. I also don't like starting off with a huge country like the HRE, ERE, or France.
