The mod Rise of Persia of course and MN is referring to the Indian faction we have.
We at first considered two Indian factions, but rejected that idea for several reasons. So we only have one Indian faction, Maghada.

The research is more or less done, while the development of the units has begun (outsourced) and will be continued by Goscinio later on. Gos is on hollyday trip and currently inmidst of the Egyptian unit creation, so it will take a while until we preview India.

why did you remove the Pandya faction?

    Let me explain:

Our mod is focussing on the Rise of Persia and the fall of the mighty tetrarchy formed by Babylon, Media, Lydia and Egypt. Also all nations, states and tribes, who were affected somehow by these events, will be represented, most prominent of course the Greek cities, but also Nomad tribes and India.

Having two Indian factions does not serve this purpose, since only a quite small part of India was affected by Persia's expansion in our time (559-490BC). The Pandyan realm located in the south of India was not involved in those events at all.
Moreover as we are in the late Vedic period of India, one struggles setting up a good Indian army list due to the sparse sources. Scholars dedicated on Indian warfare don't even try to distinguish the Indian armies that time, since they were to much alike (or the sources don't reveal the differences...). Consequently the armies Pandya and other Indians would be quite the same in RoP RTW, from which the gameplay does not benefit.

Magada was closer to Persia, also reaching for Gandhara like Persia, and the mighty Mauryas developed from that kingdom, so this is a better choice. It was - and that's decisive - the only major kingdom in northern India.

my point exactly, i was thinking the pandyans referd to the "Pandus" of north india . but the Pandus preceded the persian time era. while the "pandyans" were further south of india.

hence the mauriyans would be a better choice

As for the 1.5 version of ROP, look here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=52885
The music has been listened to. It was nice music, but most of it was too quiet to fit a wargame iirc. Might be ok for strat map background music tho.

We chose to use Maghada//Mauriya empire as our Indian faction, Pandya is no more. We won't extend the map further southwards, since we focus on the fall of the mighty tetrarchy (Babylon, Egypt, Lydia, Media) and the Rise of Persia. Since the Maghadas are more in the north, it's a wiser choise to use them as a faction than the Pandyans, which are too far south (like the Cholas are too, unfortunately )

true, and the cholas would be a good adition to a mtw2 mod that takes in the east as well, cos chola empire was at its height during the 8th-13th centuries

Well they are pretty much on their way to completion. However our time is mostly taken up with releasing the latest beta so you will have to wait maybe 2 weeks for the preview. Hopefully less!

Nope we haven't set their kings yet, but Wikipedia brings us this list:

Our list has special accents on the characters of the names though, like "Ajātaśatru"
