    Default Diplomatic possibilities

well, we have heard much about the improved diplomatic system, but did we? all I read was that there will be info on all factions and their relation to you available, and that diplomatic conversation will be "improved"
the other day I played RTR once again, and it struck me that winning or losing does not reflect on your diplomatic relationship...
what I would like to see is if you win a great battle (well maybe that was not a good example) if you take over certain number of provinces you should get MORE than "ceasefire" or "become a protectorate"
why not "give in on demands:" get lands, get princesses, get trade, or anything... well I don't feel winning when I sign a ceasefire act in RTW... and offcourse AI should get that option too.
for ex. if you are pressed by AI faction, which have taken one province, then other, it should periodicaly ask you if you would like to have a ceasefire and give something of interrest to him...
    what you say? :hmmm:

Your suggestion is good, but let me provide an example where another variable enters the picture rather than simply offering peace by the AI after it takes a province or two, and that is the relative power the AI has compared to you (ie, the graphs). Would it be realistic to assume that a faction you are at war with, that is doing well, and now with the conquered province, is more powerful than you, to ask for peace when they could continue on their path to dominance over you? Remember now, this is ancient times where a lot of the modern geopolitical and economic interdependancies don't exist.

Well, wether the terms are accepted or not is up to AI.
But it does seem like a good idea.

Well I don't agree with Mikelos Trento....During Medieval Times It was dynasties that fighting each other not nations like it's depicted in M2TW...So When a dynasty wins in battle they usually demand something from the loser like gold, land or just showing who the boss is and let them rule their dynasties....Besides during medieval times almost all of the kings or Queens were from same blood because of intermarriage between them....Sending your French daughter to marry English King makes you a big family That's why English Kings demanded land in France and invaded it because they thought that was their inheritence....So the point is most of the times wars didn't break out to eliminate each other rather to obtain an advantage from the weaker or the loser...Therefore I Strongly agree with Giurza

yeeeha! that was exactly what I wanted to say... lack of good english skills prevented me from doing that though
Thanks deckon! that's precisely what diplomacy in Medieval times is all about. it is not about destroying each other.

Who knows, maybe that is what will happen in M2TW.
We will have to wait and see until the game is released.
