    RUNEFACTORY
    TOTAL WAR
300 years before the Tides of Destiny era, the age of man and elf erupts, war is upon the kingdoms.

    Factions:

    -Southern Isles (western/southern Europe Culture)
    -Eastern Empire (Japanese culture)
-kingdom of the north (Nordic Culture)
    -Heartland Kingdom (Western Europe Culture)
-Kingdom of the West (Western Europe Culture)
-Starknight’s Rebellion (Recently renounced his service to the heartland kingdom, and has laid siege to a southern territory Fenith Island)
    -Kingdom of the Dark elf’s
    Independent City-States (Rebels all cultures)

    Faction Information:
    SOUTHERN ISLES:
The Southern Isles are made up of confederate islands, which have claimed a stake on the world’s ocean’s imports and exports, this faction has always been a master of trading at sea, and they are professionals at raiding coastal city-states. During the nations golden age the late emperor Arthur had a vast spanning empire across the territories in ocean waters, but when Emperor Arthur died at the age of 50, unknown causes, His only two sons Artius and Marcus argued over his thrown, so the sons decided to split the thrown, the Older Brother Artius took the original territories, the younger brother Marcus took the army, and left the territories for a new land, unfortunately Artius made a very poor decision giving Marcus most of the army, The Southern Isles was left defenseless, sea Raiders would start to harass the territories of the southern isles, completely bankrupting Artius’s Empire, by last resort Artius sold the isles surrounding his capital to independent city states (Rebels). Because of this mistake Artius’s has lost major popularity ratings with the Council of Nobles, soon after the Council of Nobles cut their losses and stopped funding Artius’s Empire, this act left the Southern Isles on life support, 20 years later Artius would be assassinated by his own Generals, so that he may be replaced by his only son Maximus. As the new leader Emperor Maximus started a campaign to recapture all lost territories of the Southern Isles. Maximus’s Campaigns were going very well in the first few months, but because of the growing army, famine was starting to hit the southern Isles and without their powerful Imperial trade, Maximus had to cut his campaign short and concentrate on domestic farming. Emperor Maximus had only regained a small percentage of the isle territories. 100 years would pass and no progress would be made in recapturing the lost territories, the new Emperor Maximus the III, is a very ambitious leader, and foresees a new empire for the Southern Isles, to achieve this he’ll need to recapture his territories and expand his rule on other kingdoms.

Objective: Reconquer original territories and hold the heartland’s main Capital.

    Eastern Empire:

The Eastern Empire has rich history of art, culture, and War. The Eastern Empire is a vast empire, and their Emperors have been claiming their right to rule the known world, so far they have been doing extremely well, by defeating dissidents and Rebels surrounding their territories, they have even had a couple of conflicts with the Southern Isles, benefitting on some of its trade. Because of its no tolerance of foreign culture they had made themselves an enemy of most of the western Kingdoms. The late Emperor Miagamoto invaded the heart land eastern border and was making serious progress, but because miagamoto had little to no information of the enemy he was attacking, the Heartland Kingdom was able to react quickly enough by striking them at dawn creeks ridge. Emperor Miagamoto was astonished how fast his enemy reacted to his invasion, it was not just an army but the Heartland King’s Army, More Numerous, well Equipped, and they knew the land more. Miagamoto had ordered his soldiers to hold their position and wait for the enemy to come to them. Two days would pass, and an unknown warrior would appear on the Heartland’s side, He alone started to advance upon Miagamoto’s Army, a few moments later the Heartland’s army would follow this warrior in the advance. Emperor Miagamoto thinking that his plan has worked has ordered his army to charge the heartland’s army, as the army charged into the Heartland’s army both sides were receiving extensive loses, Emperor Miagamoto decided to gain the momentum and charge with his troops, as Emperor Miagamoto emptied out all his reserves on to the battlefield, he believed that the Heartland’s army would lose hope and route, unfortunately for Miagamoto he was not aware of the situation at hand both him and his army were just flanked from the south came the Heartland’s Marines, and from the North came Northern Militia Reserve, For Emperor Miagamoto it was too late, the unknown warrior broke through his guard and thrust his blade right through the Emperor’s chest piercing his heart. With the Eastern Empire’s army in disarray, they had no choice but to retreat and give up the siege of the Heartland. With the Eastern Empire dishonored from the battle of Dawn Creeks Ridge, the young son Nashito would take control of the Eastern Empire, enraged he tried to raise an army and seek vengeance for his father’s death but it would prove futile as the Heartland Kingdom retaliated by taking some of the Eastern Empire’s territories, with no other military options to take, Emperor Nashito and King Harold of the Heartland Kingdom, came together to sign a cease fire, even though Eastern Empire and the Heartland Kingdom, stopped the war the Eastern Empire are not one’s to let go of Grudges, even now they plan their Revenge to re take their honor which was stolen from the “Western Devil’s” Emperor Nashito must recapture his territories, before expanding his Empire.

Objectives: Hold the Southern Isles and the Capital of the Heartland Kingdom

    Kingdom of the North:

The Kingdom of the North has lived on the mainland longer than any of the Western Kingdoms, in fact 600 years ago during the great war of the Tundra Mountains between, The two rivals of the Kingdom of the North, who recently expanded the rise of Christianity while the other side the Southern Nordic Kingdom who have claimed their right to rule all of the North. After the Final battle of Snow Reach Pass, it was a decisive victory for the Kingdom of the North, King Tav’ Ick had exiled the southern tribes to migrate to the south. While the North Flourished in its campaigns of expanding across the frozen tundra territories, the Southern tribes founded a new kingdom the Heartland Kingdom. As the years progressed the Kingdom of the North would soon find its self in a full bloody conflict with the Heartland Kingdom, Their wars would continue for centuries, with neither side gaining, the wars between these two nations would start to dumb down and become nothing more than border skirmishes. During the present the new King of the North Torgal, launched an attack on the Heartland striking its Northern borders, it was going pretty well for Kingdom of the North, but there was one problem the Northern troops never fought the enemy in the summer’s heat, a few months later the war would swing in the favor of the Heartland and the battles would be brought to the Northern Kingdom, but because of the Northern Castles were built on a mountain The Northern Kingdoms had the tactical advantage, but many of their fortresses have fallen to ill repair. The Kingdom of the North believed the Heartland did not have the resources or the Morale to continue in this weather and they guessed right, but unfortunately the Heartland’s leader King Harold, felt like it was time to end the war once and for all, they ordered in their secret weapon, Starknight this was the Unknown warrior that took battle in Dawn Creek Ridge, He was a very powerful warrior and could raise the morale of the whole army, with his help he defeated the Northern Kingdom and forced them Back to retreat further in to the North. With their Capital Taken the Northern Kingdom have taken Refuge in an old Fortress, King Torgal, must recapture his territories and carve a path to the Heartlands Kingdom. But for now he must remain a low profile.

Objectives: Retake all captured territories, Capture the Heartland Capital.

    The Heartland Kingdom:
The Heartland Kingdom has powerful Military history spanning for centuries to the present, though it’s early culture came from the Northern Kingdom, in time it was able to adopt its own culture. The current King of the Heartland Kingdom King Harold, is one of the most influential Kings in this chaotic time, Harold’s Kingdom has expanded to most of the Known world from all sides of the world North, East, South, and West. Due to the Kingdom’s Early Victories across the Southern Isles, They we’re able to Recruit very powerful warriors, including Starknight. Because of the Employment of experienced, to natural born fighters, The Heartland Kingdom, began its conquest on bordered Estates, gaining Fame, Glory, and treasure, not to mention the Heartland Kingdom gained the attention of the council of nobles, that the Southern Isles lost. A few years later the Heartland Kingdom became the most powerful Military and Economy, Not to mention the largest Kingdom, but the Heartland Kingdom’s soon would hit a wall. It’s Powerful Warrior Starknight had recently raised a rebellion across the Southern Isles territories that were under the control of the Heartland Kingdom, due to Starknights Revolt the current territories were beginning to get confused, both King Harold and Starknight had powerful influence and great respect for the soldiers. To continue these unfortunate events the Surrounding factions are now aware of the Heartland Kingdom’s weakness, they have all declared war on the Heartland. Playing as King Harold you must maintain and continue to fend off all attackers. This will be a very Hard campaign.

Campaign Objectives: Maintain and expand all of your territories, suppress or make peace with Starknight’s Rebellion.

    Kingdom of the West:

Continuing off of what happened when the Southern Isles Heir’s split; this introduction will be explaining what happened to Marcus. Even though the Southern Isles history said that Artius and Marcus both agreed to split The thrown, Marcus was actually exiled from the Southern Isles by his older brother, Though Marcus had no Political support in the courts he bluffed, and threatened to lead a rebellion against Artius if he didn’t get his share. Artius fell for the bluff and gave Marcus 75% of the Southern Isles Army. With the Young Duke Marcus, exiled and armed to the teeth, the only thing he could do was raid independent costal estates, looting, razing, and pillaging. Throughout the years the young Duke would gain support, not from local courts and Kingdoms, but from Bandit Lords and Sea raiders, more than a couple thousand experienced bandits/marauders/mercenaries would fill in the ranks every year. The size of his army was so tremendous that Marcus was afraid that he would not be able to keep the army fed or managed. It was then an unknown man would appear to Marcus, informing him that there was a country available to rule, Marcus could not pass an opportunity like that. Marcus had ordered his army to prepare for a long journey. It took 9 months to move the army to actually invade the Western Mainland. When Marcus finally arrived he invaded the Western mainland and overthrew the Royals who were overseeing the western part of the Mainland. Unfortunately because of the lack of scholars in Marcus employment, his early rule was never recorded, no information was found of how he even maintained the land. During Marcus Golden years there was some information being recorded that his land was hit with massive famine, causing 140,000 Deaths, nevertheless, the newly founded Western Kingdom survived the Famine and Enemy attacks. Over the Next few centuries the Western Kingdom would benefit off of the rare material from the land, and from its powerful trade, the Western Kingdom. In the following years the Western Kingdom would be outshined by the Heartland Kingdom. The Current King, King Francis would maintain and wealthy trade with the powerful Heartland Kingdom, but since the Great Rebellion, King Francis has taken his chances to seek opportunity and conquer the lands further in the East. King Francis must use his knowledge of the Heartland Kingdom and use it to his advantage.

Objectives: Capture the Heartland Kingdom’s Capital, and hold the Southern Isles.

    Starknight’s Rebellion (Or just Starknight):

Starknight was born in Heartland territories in the Southern Isles, at the age 17, he lost his parents in the Mainland, Unknown causes, but whatever the causes he and his friend Washu (Shut Up… Lol Jk…..Or am I?) Left the Mainland and moved back to the Heartland Kingdom controlled Southern Isles, hoping to escape the ravages of the war. Starknight and Washu moved to Fenith Island, but making money on the island was almost impossible, since it was a fortress island, Starknight made the choice that he would enter the war to earn the necessary funds to survive, of course his friend Washu objected, but there was no other choices, and moving back to the mainland was out of the question. When Starknight enlisted in the Heartland Army, he was immediately deployed to the battlefield, throughout the years Starknight would gain many friends with in the Heartlands Southern Army, including gaining influence with local governors and lords. Many saw Starknight like a demon when he was sent out to the battlefield he even gained a nickname (the Dragon Knight), of course Starknight Heroism and legendary victories did not escape the eyes of the Heartlands Kingdoms Royals, King Harold witnessed these victories with his own eye’s including his victory at Dawn Creek Ridge. Starknight would later receive a royal decree that he and his forces would have to transfer to the veteran army, of course this would mean Starknight and Washu would have to move back to the Mainland, it took Starknight several Months before his friends finally convinced him to lead a Rebellion against King Harold, starting here on Fenith Island. Starting the Campaign you will have no Settlements, but you will start out with a sizable army, funds, and you will start out with an ally can you guess? If you keep attacking the Heartlands kingdoms Southern Isles territories, you will confuse the faction, and making others in their ranks question who to follow, there is also the threat of the Eastern Empire, they did not forget.

Objectives: Hold the Southern Isles and the Heartland Capital.

There we go, that already sounds a lot more interesting. Is this an idea of your own completely? It sounds good. Could you perhaps elaborate a bit more on what you intend to do with the gameplay? What kind of special mechanics would you like to include, what kind of units would the factions have (you could be very general in saying that the south would have lightly equipped soldiers or so). What kind of weapons? Firearms or medieval? Will be waiting for a drawn map, it's hard to visualize it currently. Nonetheless, this is already a lot more appealing - well done.

    Morale: normal
    Special Ability: Wooden Stakes/Shield Wall
    Cost: 75 gold

This is based off of a game RuneFactory, but the storyline is completely my idea, and the factions, so basically the idea hit me.

    Default Four Shrines

    The Four Shrines
These mysterious Shrines of the Olden times no one today knows the reasons of their existence, some scholars and philosophers point out that the Shrines could be dedication to the Old Gods. Others have boasted about collecting documents of the olden times, finding that the Shrines were not for dedication to the Old Gods, but to contain a mysterious threat. Be it the case, a few independent City States have decided to take refuge by these towering shrines. These Shrines are but a glimpse of ancient architecture and bring travelers from far and wide, to promote trade, Growth, and income. But what could the secrets be?

P.S. No Pictures yet but these Shrines will be on the map.
