    Default Roman Civil War

I wonder how the civil wars experienced by Roman generals will be represented in TW:R2? Perhaps each general will have a bar measuring their achievements like RTW had a bar for each Roman faction representing their popularity with the people. I imagine such a bar would gradually fill up for every victory against an enemy army, and if the victory is against a large enemy army then the bar would fill up quicker? If a faction was subdued to a client state or a faction destroyed this would also rise significantly. However, for a civil war to occur there would have to be a great deal of bondage between the general and his army. It would be unrealistic to place a general like Caesar in command of a newly recruited army or one which he has not won distinct victories with and expect him to rebel, regardless of his prior successes with his previous army. Will civil wars even occur prior to the Marian reforms?

Then i wonder what CA will do to prevent the player from simply disbanding, sending on a death boat trip or placing that general in a different office/army. Historically, Caesar remained in power simply thanks to the (secret) alliance with Pompey and Crassus but once Crassus died he lost political influence in Rome and was forced to rebel or face certain persecution.

How do you think civil war will actually be implemented? It is after all one of the major slogans of CA of whether you will fight to defend the republic or institute an empire.
"we're way way pre-alpha and what that means is there is loads of features not just in terms of the graphics but also in terms of the combat and animations that actually aren't in the game yet.So the final game is actually gonna look way way better than this!” - James Russell, CA
Just like the elephant animation, this Carthage scenario is actually in the game, it just has a small percantage factor for showing up, that's all...

Not sure how they will end up putting it in but I think your idea of the bar and it filling up with victories is a good one
    the dream will never die

Well considering there will be only one Roman faction, it will be very interesting. Sincerely I don't know how it will end up..

Civil War was most Epic in Medieval 1, i dont know how many Hours of my life I spend to Conquer half of Europe, just to Reconquer it in a Rebellion - it was a really good feature, a "must have" for Rome 2 in my opinion. Civil War should ore often occur when you in the Late Era Game as Rome - when you decide between the Republic or establishing a Empire.

I remember one game I had, I was one province short of conqueroring all of the map, and then my empire just imploded xD

Apart the strugle that opposed Caesar and Pompey , first, and Octavius and Antonius, then, in Rome the different family members fought continusly for a place on the key seats of the governing system. I would like to see more political fight than a civil war.

Don't forget Sulla and Marius. And maybe some more if the game continue long enough after the formation of the Empire.

Now that is a good question and it would be interesting if CA could talk about it during the next preview.

Yes I was forgetting about Marius and Sulla..
Well in the Imperial age there could be the 69 A.D. the year of the four emperors. Later S. Severus but sincerely I don't think the initial game will go that far. Instead it could be a great chance for DLCs. I will buy them for sure..

In early Roman history you have all the crushing of Etruscans, Sabines and Italian Greeks which result in intermittent warfare for the better part of 3 centuries, followed by the Social war (Marius + Sulla then Sertorious vs pompey in Spain), then Spartacus (If he counts), then Caesar and Pompey. Post Imperial revolts and political struggles are too numerous to mention. Suspicious deaths of Drusus the elder and younger, Death of Germanicus, all sorts of naughtiness in the east etc.

The question is whether your going to be rebelled against for Political ideals or holding too much power, though the two overlap.
