Sir Longmember arrives...he had been returned from Ireland for some months now, and had yet to be informed of any title nor land to be given unto him...

Sir John stands in the corner. He's not entirely sure if he's there to help keep order, or because he was in ireland.

Very good. I also expect to see a reformation. The Witan shall serve as a council to formalise the Succesion, or choose a new king if the current ones heir is unfit to rule, or the country is in a time of crisis. Crime and punishment shall be judged by a fair Tribunal, with punishments being just and made to match the crime. Is this agreeable?

Your majesty though your intentions are noble at heart, it would be unwise to implentment such a system. God hath choosen thine line to rule over the kingdom of England to have nobles decide whether thine line is fit to rule is not only treason but also blasphemy

Although I would agree, I would not have you bow to an incompetent wretch simply because he is my great-great grandsons cousin. The Witan shall choose a new king if one is unfit to rule, and the bishops will have a say too.

The Germans have an electoral monarchy, what you suggest is completely different

Not exactly. The German emperor can still appoint his own heir. What I am suggesting is to go by old Saxon law.

John stood shocked. He was a Duke over an exceptionally large amount of land. Dear God! He had no idea how to be a noble - though a snide part of him reconised that most of the peasants thought that most nobles had no idea about how to be one.

John just nodded at the kings ideas.

    Hey,
I heard about the council of Greenwich that it was First Council of Nicaea was a council of Christian bishops convened in Nicaea in Bithynia by the Roman Emperor Constantine I in AD 325. This first ecumenical council was the first effort to attain consensus in the church through an assembly representing all of Christendom.
