Default "Ferres Romans" for TE 5.1?

    Dear TE,

I've been watching this mod closely for some time now, and, I finally have some time off work to try out a new mod.

I saw here that there is a Roman skin pack called "Ferres Romans" that was being considered for inclusion in the "CE" version of this mod.

Though I really admire and appreciate all the hard work Lusted has put into his Roman skins, I have to be honest and say I really like the ones in the screen shot in the post I referenced above.

Where can I find the "Ferres Romans" pack and is it compatible with the "vanilla" TE 5.1 mod? How much "modding" would be required to implement it into Lusted's amazing work?

    Thanks a bunch,

    Candelarius, aka, Yakaspat

its pretty easy... just follow the instructions ferres romans pack gives to you if your adding it to a different mod but the thing that is a pain is unpacking the ui files and adding alcords UI to them...

Thanks a bunch. But I know how to add the UI cards without having to use the pack files anyway. I'll check these out.

    Thanks again!

Be very careful installing this into Lusted's Mod. The Modding legions pack was written for an earlier version of RTW (v1.2, I think), and an older animation package than Lusted uses. If you add this pack, do NOT change the 'skeleton' line in 'Descr_model_battle.txt'. Also, be aware that in the 'export_descr_units.txt' that comes with the pack, the ownership lines are all wrong for RTW v1.5. They will say: 'romans brutii, romans julii, etc.' The correct syntax in v1.5 is: 'romans_brutii, romans_julii'. Best not to change these at all, just change the textures in DMB, and make sure they're in the right folder.

There's a 1.5 compatible .txt file included in the files.

I downloaded and felt lost...I've decided to wait for the Arbitrium Edition that will include the Ferres Romans.

Kaweh, I like that you seem more bent on historical realism. Any chance you'll be introducing an AOR system? Or time-based scripting that introduces evolved Roman infantry units, like what Res Gestaei is doing, rather than just having them based on city level?

Great work everyone, glad someone suggested I try this mod out.

Hm... maybe AOR in the later versions, but without having to wait 20 turns 'till you can build units which are not completely for the ass (like in RTR ) Would like to include scripts, but I can't script (very well) myself.

What about Prometheus' Roman Legions Pack? Check it out in his Res Gesaei (sp?) thread. I downloaded it...very very impressive.

Until then, I did download TE and started playing. Very impressed. Looking forward to the Gold edition.

Implementing skins is pretty easy once you get used to it. It's better doing it yourself so that you can insert any model and skin you want and you don't have to depend on the creator of the mod to do it for you. I've always like ferres's Roman skin packs but with Prom releasing his Roman skin pack just recently, I've been using that along with a few of Prom's new Roman animations (two handed Signifer, cavalry, and a couple others) for TE 5.1.

I have no problems implementing skins (I have my own skin mod for RTRPE), but, when it comes to screw around with animations paks, I'm lost. Do the animations from Prom's mod need to be manually implemented, or can they be dumped into TE?

I took the Roman animations I liked from Resgestae and inserted them into TE's animation pack.

Good job, you have more file manipulation skill then I. I downloaded the packer/unpacker program and read Prom's readme and tutorial at the org, but gave up in frustration. I'm a patient man, though, so, I'll wait until someone else does a mini-mod. Afterall, it's not like I don't have RTRPE, Goth's Mod, and TFT to keep me busy. ;-)
