Default [Suggestion] Reviewing how Levies are Calculated?

The current system is lacking to say the least, at the moment Gotland, Shetland or Orkney provides more Levies then Paris, Jerusalem or Antioch. So I propose a review to bring the system more in line with reality. Levies should be based on Population, not just agricultural output that doesn't make sense anyway.

How about this: the holding of a province contributes to its levy?

So Paris has a fortress / huge city , and although it can only raise say, 3000 levies, it gets another 5000 from its holding?

    Only 5000 for a metropolis?

Well, I don't agree with the holdings anyway. For example, Rome was very much a ruin at this Time, whereas Constantinople was vibrant. London was growing larger as well, even though winchester was the capital. London should easily be a large city, whereas winchester should be a fortified castle, as it was in reality. Same with cities like Tunis, they were very big.

I think the Huge cities should be:
    Constantinople

    Large:
    Rome
    London
    Paris
    Antioch
    Alexandreia
    Nicaea
    Milan
    Ravenna

    Average:
    Tunis
    Cordoba
    Madrid
    Mecca
    Jerusalem

I see your point Cho'gall, but right now I'd like to focus on how the Levy system can be fixed.

I can agree that city holdings could add extra levies. How about this?

    Small City: 1 500
    City: 3 000
    Huge City: 5 000

Castles could also add some too.

Maybe Castles reduce upkeep for Regular Solders?

    Cities: provide levies and income

Castles: provide levies and less upkeep for troops.

Sounds logical, shall I add a poll?

No if we are to be complete nitpicky: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lund'
Lund would be the correct answer.

The population center of Denmark kind of shifted from Skane to Jutland over time. It's still in Skane at this time, specifically Lund, like Narf said.

I find the current system simple to calculate. Why complicate by putting city charts and stuff?

I think a standard levy bonus and upkeep cut is better.
