RTW - Anthology problem

This question was probably asked before and I did tried to find the original thread but didn't succeed.. sry about that, so I'm asking again

So here's what's happened. I bought retail RTW-Anthology containing 1dvd RTW 1cd BI & 1cd ALX. Installed everything one by one, and checked the options for the version history. here comes the strange part, BI & ALX version says it's a patched version but RTW seems to be downgraded to 1.3 version.

The question is what should I do now because obviously something is wrong here.

found this thread but no explanation what to do.. Is it possible to patch everything manually or just install mods and play?

Also, I have win7, UAC disabled, everything installed on C: program files

OK. I uninstalled everything starting with ALX and Installed RTW (checked for the version in options and in programs it said ver 1.5) then installed BI also checked in options and it said ver 1.6 but when I checked in programs

strange thing happened WTF? checked the exe.

.. Then I tried to install 1.5 patch and it went well (though it ended in seconds). both in programs, exe and game options it said ver 1.5. Well I thought maybe now I could make BI ver from 1.4 to 1.6.. No luck.

If you have R:TW patched to 1.5 and then install the original version of R:TW BI (1.4 - usually on CD-ROM) then it downgrades R:TW from 1.5 to 1.3.

What you used to be able to do was manually patch R:TW from 1.3 back to 1.5.

However, the R:TW Anthology sounds messed up in a big way. I did have such a version but never installed it as I have the original three CD-ROM R:TW and single CD-ROM of R:TW BI (except that copy destroyed itself by exploding while in my DVD-ROM drive). I currently use R:TW Gold II and also a seperate R:TW Alex install.

It's not a big help but it may be easier to return the game to the company you bought it from. Maybe first asking them for technical support. If you bought the gamr recently they should accept it back and give a refund - or maybe ask them to supply a different copy of the game.

Mods will not work if the game is not patched to R:TW 1.5 and/or R:TW BI 1.6.

Brusilov thanks for clearing some issues. Shame on distributors. Nevertheless, here's what I did. So far still works and I had only one CTD playing RS2.1a with BI.exe. I came up on some topic regarding the Anthology issue and you replied there that the actual version of the game can be found in options on upper right corner so I uninstalled everything and started again but without installing ALX. The procedure was the same, RTW and then BI. After every installation I restarted PC and checked the options, RTW it said 1.5 but after installing BI it said ver 1.3., BI in options said 1.6 and in control panel/programs and features it said 1.4. So I downloaded patch 1.3-1.5 for RTW and installed it. BI version in options stayed 1.6 but in programs 1.4. Nothing to loose here so I thought why not give it a go. Copied the whole RTW folder to a new location and installed RS 2.1a. Tried with BI exe for a aprox. 15 turns and it works. What happened or is this the solution I don't know. One thing is for sure so far so good. Mod would not work with BI 1.4 right?

So long as the number on the top right hand side of the options menu shows 1.4 then the only mod that it will work for is one specifically designed for 1.4.

Most (if not all) mods that I've seen need R:TW BI patched to 1.6.

When I look at the properties for my exe the R:TW and R:TW BI show the size as 14.6Mb....

I just checked properties for BI.exe it says 14.3Mb, though in folder it says it's 14.738Kb
