    Default Are we gods property?

This is a spin off from the "God, what a punk, am I right?" thread.

Basically, I am asking if we are all gods property. This is not assuming that he exists, but more questioning our rights as an individual.

We are an ant farm. An unorganized ant farm.
One thing is for certain: the more profoundly baffled you have been in your life, the more open your mind becomes to new ideas.

    I am NO ONE's property.

There is no god/goddess to try and claim me anyways, and I will fight to the death against any human who tries to "own" me.

No. I am no one's property. I bow to no tyrant, especially not an obviously psychotic and immature tyrant like yahweh.
God doesn't even exist, anyway, so this is kinda pointless.

You can't exactly say that definatively. Different religions have different views on the subject. In the Abrahamic tradition though, people are God's property.
Given any number of random, even contradictory metaphysical postulates, a justification, however absurd, can be logically developed.

Yeah god sure got a bargain. Humans for 3 cents at the flea market. Too bad no one told him that we would cause so much trouble.

God is a maniac. He murders countless innocent people, destroying whole cities and flooding the entire world. At one point he becomes a pyromaniac and threatens to burn down cities. He kills every Egyptian first-born son even though it is his own fault the pharaoh didn't release the slaves. He commands people to murder their own children only to jump in at the last minute to stop it. He invents stupid laws like 'stone children who swear'. He punishes everyone because of the actions of 2 people millions of years ago.

If any of this were true, then God needs to be taken from power immediately. He's not fit to own any person. Hitler is more sane then God.

God is my favourite fictional character.

You have to edit your poll to state, "If you believe in God, do you think you are God's property". Your poll is misleading and inaccurate.

Why is it misleading and innacurate, we are all humans? Besides, its not within my powers to edit the poll.

You are asking "Are We God's Property?". In order to answer the question you have to believe in God first.

Your question should be "If You Believe in God, Do you belive that we are his property?"

Or use these options on the poll:

    1) I believe in God, and I think we are his property.

    2) I believe in God, and I think we ae not his property.

    3) I do not believe in God and therefore I we are not God's property.

Well, for starters, it appears to be a blatant attempt at push polling. Also, I fail to see though what the poll has to do when considering the implications of 'Divine Ownership' within various beleif systems.

NO ONE, not even a god, owns me. I am not some slave to be bartered or bought. I bow not to tyrants.
Well, provided that God is a reality, I'm not sure you have much choice on the issue. If God isn't real, well then, you can go on your merry way completely free to do whatever you wish without divine damnation.

Well, God can do as he wills with us. But He chooses to give us freedoms.

I believe God could kill me, or make me do anything he wants. But I don't think he will. If you were to create life, and then let it go, it would technically be yours, though you do not exercise control over us.

However, I abstain because I do not believe the relationship between mortals and immortals follows that of property.

This idea always irked me. I never understood this concept of the Judeo-Christian element. If God gives us free will, and he's omnipotent, then doesn't he already know what choice we've made, making the issuance of free will unnecessary?

I'm not trying to be vitriolic and start some sort of biting debate, I'm genuinely curious here.

    How's that for grade-school philosophy?

It depends, i'm divided by three entities:

My body (generally speaking), belongs to God.
My mind belongs to the GOd of Rock and Roll.
My genitalia usually belongs to various women of the large-breasted variety. Usually they consider ME god.

(COME ON PEOPLE, "are we gods property?"?!?! what's next, "Can I fart in Church or is that a mortal sin?"
