Freezing on splash screen

When I tried to play shogun today, it hangs on the splash screen (the one with the copyrights). It was fine yesterday. I can play Napoleon, ETW and other games. I already did all recommended things.
1. delete clientregistry blob and appupdate blob
2. run c++ redist
3. delete preferences
4. check integrity of game files

Any other ideas?

Edit: Update. After doing everything again, when I verified the game cache, it said it was fine, then it seemed to be downloading something, then when I launched the game it said that it was completing installation. This time, I managed to reach the game menu, but it froze there.

Be sure you don't have Chrome or Google's toolbar installed. I already had an updater try to install them on me.

Other than that, there are newer Beta graphics drivers with game fixes and the soud drivers are still from last year.
