    Default Massive lag on battle map

    I was wondering if anyone could help me with lagging on the battle map, It will run fine at the start of the battle then about mid way through it will lag massively and I have to close the game. My specs are as follows, ATI Radeon HD5570 1GB, AMD Phenom II X6 1045T processor, 8 gigs of ram and 1TB hdd. I am running the 1.3 version of Medieval 2 non steam. Thanks

    Moved from M2 GD to M2 Tech

    A few things to consider.
    1. The game only uses one core of those six. Not bad for an eight year old game.
    2. The game only uses 4gb max including your graphics card no matter how much RAM you have installed. The reason is 32bit code. 64bit for general population was still a dream.
    3. The only real solution is lower your graphics settings.

    I figured that's what I would have to do since its pretty old. Gonna have to repurchase this game cause my first disk is scratched and it won't reinstall.

    I put everything down to med/low and it still lags out mid way through the battle.

    Try turning shadows off or to very low. They're one of the biggest performance hogs. If you can live without shadows you might be able to bump up other settings like unit detail.

    Yeah that's one of the first things I set to low, I can't figure out why it runs fine through half the battle then lags out and I have to close the game with task manager.

    Do you have Steam version of the game?
    As Stealthfox said, cleaned out your case?
    Have you run disk cleanup and defragged your harddrive lately?
    Check your voltages and temps.

    I have the non steam version, My case is just about spotless, I cleaned it a week ago, I defragged my C drive about 6 days ago. It is running cool whenever I run the game.

    I would say possibly Securom has a hand in it since you do have Daemon Tools installed.
    Try it ith Daemon Tools uninstalled and prove me wrong. If so, we look elsewhere.

    Well I uninstalled Daemon tools and its better but its now lagging out when the battle is almost over. I would say when about 1/3 of the enemy force remains it starts lagging.

    My CPU is hanging around 42 to 43C and the voltage was around 1.1000 to 1.5000 according to core temp.

    Run Speedfan and post a pic. Cpu is not the only thing to cause this.
