If it has the GTX 675m it will handle ultra just expect frame rates to drop as is normal during heavy melee. nothing you can do about that unless running an Ivy Bridge desktop at 4.0 GHz +

also keep in mind its 9lbs and has a battery life of only around 2 hours for normal use aka web surfing typing up a document etc etc.

No there isnt anyway to upgrade the battery life.

What you can do is to buy a m17x, clevo np9150 or np9170, or the msi gt 60 or the gt 80 with the 680m, which is FAR more powerful than the 675m.

The 675m is a rebranded 485m/580m which is basically a desktop gtx 560 ti, however the 680m is basically a desktop gtx 670, there is a huge gap in performance.

if you are going for the aw m17x you can also chose the 7970m which is basically on par to the 680m without the added price tag. Since the sammy is around 2k, you should have no issues paying for the aw, and yes give dell a call and haggle, people can and do get huge discounts on the models, 10-25%

I honestly didnt understand what you meant above me, mind if you say it simpler to a primitive and dull non techno geek?

Well is there anyone to make the battery life better? Like buy a portable or double battery pack?

Ok sorry for the serious of numbers and other things.

To raise the battery life you can buy another battery or buy a different pc that has a better battery life.

I do prefer the alienware m17x instead of the samsung series 7, because the former uses a new gpu, while the latter uses a twice rebranded one (i.e. I will sell you the same product 3 times just with different names). And that translates to a near 50% increase in terms of raw power.

In the m17x and the sammy, they have optimus, while the former can have a manual switch (which I prefer, its 100% accurate, unlike optimus). What it basically does is to shut down the gpu (it may be nvidia or amd) and it will use the one that came with the cpu instead. This saves battery life A LOT.

Since you are non techie, sorry if you already know this, DONT GAME ON BATTERY.

A good config would be the following:

    CPU: i7 3610qm
    GPU: 680m or the 7970m
HDD: get the one that comes with it, make a recovery DVD, buy a samsung 830 256gb, install windows via the recovery dvd or a new install in the SSD, be extremely happy.
RAM: get the one that comes with it, you dont need more than 8gb, if you want to change the ram is simple, open the back cover and be happy, its a simple insert the ram in the slot.
Wifi: I do prefer intel ones.

    1) buy a battery or buy a laptop with better battery life this is self explanatory

2)upgrading a laptops graphics is pretty much worthless so your stuck with what you get unless you like spending $1000 for a part that rivals a $200 desktop part most of the time.

3)High end laptops the battery usually A) cant supply enough power to let the system run at maximum speed or B) you end up using most of the battery power in minutes compared to hours in terms of gameing vs surfing the web.

You can talk to the people at mythlogic, they sell the gpus usually, however the price for the 680m is 800. I dont know if the 7970m should work, nor if the 680m should work on that. With AW you can usually just buy the card insert it there and be happy

Better to return it, and buy it again.

only searching the web you can find those, but a good indication would be looking for parts in the manufacturers site.

you want to change the gpu and cpu? check ebay for the 7970m since you wont afford the 680m (its now at 850), and the 3920xm can be found on ebay as well around 600.

seriously? you should have returned it. those mods WILL void your warranty, while on aw and clevo they wouldnt.

I would clean install everything, simply test the software that you are going to use and when you do clean install, only install those ones.

the 675m is rebranded 580m, which is a rebranded 485m which is based on the gtx 560 ti. Get a 560 ti benchie and remove around 10-20%.

You can try to put a 7970m or a 680m, both 100w tdp like the 675m that you have, and both are 2x better than your card. Your cpu wont even bottleneck 2x 680m with core at 1ghz+ and vram at 2.5GHZ+

I have told you all of this already
