A royal carriage arrives at Spoleto guarded by many guards they head at full speed towards the castle,

A guard announces,
"Duke Otto I of Toscana!" A meeting with the Duke of Spoleto is requested.

A beautiful summer's day a grand carriage drives on the roads of the Duchy of Spoleto. Escorted by 100 Knights, the carriage enters the newly founded port of Porto Santo Alfonso in the Province of Orvieto. People are out on the streets, celebrating and cheering of the grand event that will take place. The carriage stops outside the mayor's office, an impressive piece of Neo-Roman architecture made of white marble. A man dressed in noble clothes of finest silk leaves the carriage and walks up to a podium built on the stairs of the mansion. Hundreds of people have gathered and impatiently awaits the words of the man. Next to him is a man dressed in a scholar's clothes dyed purple and green. He also wears a copper mask with beautiful carvings on it. The noble, Duke Cesare, speaks up.

Citizens of Spoleto, we have gathered here for an auspicious event. Today, on this beautiful day, we will officially start the celebration of the founding of the City of Porto Santo Alfonso, the new capital of the province of Orvieto and the economical capital of the Duchy of Spoleto. We will together turn this city into the greatest in all of Italy, maybe even the greatest in Europe! I expect from all of you, to the little toddler on the street to the wealthy merchant, to do your best to accomplish this. Remember, you have all of Central Italy behind you, supporting you and putting their faith in you. Would you disappoint them? I think not! Am I right?!

The crowd cheered a loud, clear "YES" and started to clap their hands in awe. Many of them had already started on the wine and the celebrating would break out at any moment.

Now, before we start this party, I have another announcement. I am founding and funding the creation of the Central Trading Company. It will directly serve the Duchy of Spoleto and make sure that this city prospers. It will trade with the barbarians in the North, with the Byzantines to the East and with the Muslims to the South. They may not be the children of Christianity, but as our lord Jesus Christ said, "Love thy neighbor". All shall be welcomed to trade here.

Now I feel I have spoken enough. Lets celebrate so much that the Germans in the North hear it!

And it was the grand event of the year for the people of Spoleto, so big that it would be spoken of for years.

A message arrives from Toscana on February 1002 AD

"Duke Cesare of Spoleto, I, Duke Otto I of Toscana regreat to inform you that our alliance is broken. Due to your actions and claims to the Italian throne I can no longer trust to."

About one month latter a second latter arrives,
"Followed by my last message I've decided that you left me no other way but to enforce my claims by force! War has been declared among our realms!"
