    Default [Registration] Main Characters 2.0

    Main Characters
You can create only one main character in the game. After the main character dies, the heir or protégée will take over as the next main character. The scope of your character is better explained in the player guides.

    Stats
Skill Point based Stats The basic unit in the game is skill points. Skill points are earned through events and role plays. 50 skill points can be invested to increase any of the stats by 1 point. Sometimes, for exceptional role plays, moderators can award players both in skill points and stats.
Example: +30 Skill Points, +1 Command.
Strength: Includes the physical toughness of the player. The stronger the player, the more likely he/she is to win duels and fights, and less likely to be killed by assassination. This would also keep your character alive as long as realistically practical.

+1 Strength gives you a plus one for a positive outcome when rolling for death, assassinations, or duelling.

Intelligence: Includes the mental prowess of the player. It is essential for research, learning new skills, strategies, and increased trade profits. It is also required for making new advances in any field. For merchants, intelligence is their trading prowess.

+1 Intelligence gives you a varying bonuses when having a roll.

Command: It is the military competency of the player. It is required for military strategy. The more the command, the more successful the military maneuvers would be. Also, troops fight better under a good commander, and are better adaptive to innovations.

+1 Command gives you a plus one for a positive outcome when rolling for battles.

Subterfuge: Is the players stealth, secrecy, and all the other of the shady arts rolled into one. The more skilful they are the higher their chances of success at the more sinister arts is.

+1 Subterfuge gives you a plus one for an outcome in your favour when rolling for assassination attempts, theft etc.

Action based Stats These are stats which are determined by a player’s actions/decisions rather than skill points. However, for the start of game or new players, these stats can be increased by skill points. This is for the New Players only. Afterwards, these stats will be determined by actions/decisions.

Piety: Piety shows a player’s loyalty, devotion, and dedication to the Catholic Church. Piety is useful for the following important reasons.
    • Clergymen have the power to denounce other people from the church. However, if they themselves are found lacking in piety, the papacy might not allow the person to do so. More importantly, if the target person to be denounced has higher piety than that clergyman, he could find himself in a papal inquiry.
    • Players would find their characters safer with higher piety against Inquisition rolls.
    • Inquisitions can also be ordered by the clergy too. However, should the clergyman be lacking in piety, he would himself fall victim to inquisition.

Chivalry/Dread: Again, the name suggests it all. Chivalry or Dread is affected by how a player treats his/her fellows, subjects, and enemies. In battle, Chivalry inspires troops, and Dread scares enemy troops. This is now extended to all players. Although, this would not work with other players, it would still work in rolls and mod controlled characters. This trait works the best in battle when leading troops.

If Chivalry - At the start of a battle a D20 roll will be given whether or not your troops are inspired (even chances), a +1 in Chivalry swings the balance more in your favour.
If Dread - At the start of a battle a D20 roll will be given whether or not you scare enemy troops (even chances), a +1 in Dreads swings the outcome more in your favour.

    Name: Cesare Vittelo

    Age: 27

Appearance: Cesare is a man of average height, with a great muscular physique. He has one light-green and one brown eye and a light tan. His long hair, going down to his neck, is black as night. He also has a small moustache and a goatee.

    Origin: Italian

House: The Vittelo family is an Italian noble family, but it hasn’t always been like that. The family was from the beginning a mercenary family from Firenze, fighting for money to make their living. In 785, the family moved to Spoleto to serve as bodyguards for the local duke. The family did their duty well, guarding duke after duke, but the decisive event came in 850 AD. The family successfully uncovered and stopped a military coup against Duke Vittorio V. For their services to faithful services they were made a noble family.

Background Story: Cesare is the eldest son of Antonio Vittelo and his wife Maria. Maria was a daughter of a rich merchant of Genoa and Antonio married her because of love, not politics. The rest of the family was enraged, but Antonio stood his ground and went through with the wedding. She gave birth to Cesare, his brother Francesco and his little sister Angela. The family lived happy in their villa just outside the town of Spoleto, but soon everything changed. One autumn-night, five men broke into the villa and brutally murdered Antonio and Maria. Cesare, only 20 years old, was able to escape with his siblings. After taking in at a local inn, Cesare found out that Duke Emmanuelle III had been executed after a coup and local lords now fought over the duchy. Anarchy ruled and the people suffered. Cesare felt he had to do something, but first he returned to the villa to get some necessary commodities. His parents were still lying dead in their bed, but Cesare got his father’s sword, the family’s wealth and a few other items he thought was needed. When he left, he set fire to the villa, reducing it to ashes and erasing the horrible memory of that night. He bought a house in Spoleto and moved in with his siblings. That’s when he decided that, in order to protect his family and the people, he must become the new duke so that no one would ever dare to go after his family or the people. After rallying some local nobles and a few wealthy merchants behind himself he began his march on the road to power. After defeating the rest of the nobles defying him, he prepared to crown himself Duke of Spoleto, he received news that two regions of the duchy had seceded and had formed their own viscountcies. Cesare accepted that he couldn't crown himself duke, but immediately started drawing up plans for expanding his power and recreate the Duchy of Spoleto.

Name: Boleslaus z Lotrinske/Boleslaus III of Bohemia

    Age: 32

Apperance: Boleslaus has dark green eyes and medium length hair that is black. His mouth is surrounded by a pointed goatee, similar to his father's. The Frankish-Bohemian is around 5 feet 10 inches with a strong physique. Boleslaus is seen as the ideal stature for a man of Frankish blood.

Origin: German (Bohemian/Moravian) and Frankish (Lotharingia)

House: The House of z Lotrinske, which means "Of Lotharingia," is a family with ancestral ties to the region of Upper Lorraine, believed to be from the area of Verdun. The family was founded in Bohemia through the marriage of Charles de Lothringen and Joanna Přemyslids in 954 AD. Four years later, Charles would succeed his father-in-law, the last Přemyslids Duke, Boleslaus II, and would become the founding Duke of the z Lotrinske family. Charles I z Lotrinske (the surname was assumed later into Charles' reign) would begin a rampant expansion and internal affairs policies that would make the Duchy of Bohemia stronger than ever before. He would father three sons and four daughters. His firstborn, Charles II, would die due to Consumption at the young age of 10. His second born, Boleslaus, who was named by his Bohemian/Moravian mother, would assume and, later, be granted the title of Heir Apparent to Duchy of Bohemia. Charles I would die at the age of 62, after a forty-two year reign, at the end of a long life of rule, love, family and hunting. Within the following month, his third son would ascend to the Duchy as Duke Boleslaus III of Bohemia.

Background Story: Boleslaus z Lotrinske, also known as Boleslaus III of Bohemia, was born 968 AD to Charles I of Bohemia and his wife, Joanna Přemyslids. The name Boleslaus was given to him by Joanna, after his grandfather, the last Přemyslids Duke, Bolesaus II the Pious. It was in memory of the pious duke who brought Joanna and Charles together so that his name may live on. The Frankish-Moravian child would prove be such a notable man as he grew up. Boleslaus, by the age of 16, was noted for his archery, horsemanship and abilities in politics. His elder brother, Charles II, died when he was 8 and thus was granted the title Heir Apparent only a year later by his father at the repeated suggestions by his mother. Charles would see the wisdom of his wife's words and began to groom Boleslaus for succession. Whenever Charles went hunting, his son would follow and the two would rival each other in archery and horsemanship. One day, when Charles was teaching his son how to use a sword, he asked his son who guided his blade. Boleslau would reply "God and Grandfather. I respect my Lord and my ancestors and they empower with me with motivation through the determination within my mind and the piety of my heart." Charles was surprised by these words. A monk who was passing by one day stopped and prostrated before Boleslau calling him The Pious Son. Later, when the young heir was in the woods, a hunter approached him and said "You must be the grandson of Boleslau II. You have an air of piety, the eyes of a falcon and the earmarks of a Duke." Boleslau, calmly, thanked the man and went on his way. His family was surprised, once more, by these words and believed that Boleslau was destined to do great things for the future of Bohemia and their family. In the late winter of 1000 AD, shortly after the new year, Charles I died after a long life of happiness. His aged eyes would turn to Boleslau and speak of how, at first, he doubted his son's future and that he was sorry for ever doubting his own blood. His son would reply "Be at peace, father, for the Duchy and our family is in good hands. Release your mortal body and go to the Heavenly Kingdom above." At that moment, Charles smiled and closed his eyes, his soul departing from his body seconds later. Boleslau, after traveling to speak with Otto III and being fully recognized as the heir of Bohemia, ascended his father's place as Duke Boleslau III of Bohemia. His father was granted the name Charles I 'the Augustus' and his elder brother Charles II 'the Filial' by the local clergy and the emperor. With Boleslau as the Duke of Bohemia, our story continues and only the future and God knows what is to come.

    Name
    Name: Canute Haraldsson "Ischyros"

    Physical Traits
    Age: 19, born AD 983.

Appearance: Fair-haired as any Norsemen in their homeland, but thin and refined like his mother,
Canute inherited the fair parts of his parents heritages. A straight nose, the green eyes of his mother,
the golden locks of his father, his mother's Porphyrogénnētos ("born in the purple") complexion,
and his father's height and stature.

    Nobility
    The House of Ischyros (ισχυρος)

    Other Ancestry:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    - The Fairhair Dynasty:

His paternal grandfather was Tryggve Olafsson, grandson of Harald Fairhair.
    - The Macedonian Dynasty:

His mother is a relative of Basil II, inheriting a branch of Basil I's bloodline.

    History and Personality
Origin: His father, Harald Tryggvasson, was an illegitimate son of Tryggve Olafsson, King of Viken. At a young age, Harald traveled with a band of warriors to Constantinople in the 970's as mercenaries, earning fame, glory, and much loot in the Bulgar-Slayer's campaigns, gaining the epithet "Ischyros", meaning "strong". His mother, Euphemia, was his father's prize, a close relative of the Emperor's family, carrying the blood of a high prince in her veins.

    Background Story:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Born around a year after his Macedonian mother Euphemia was married to his Norwegian father Harald,
he was baptized as a Christian together with his father. Canute was raised mostly by his father, Harald, with the reasoning being that Canute would grow into a capable warrior if he followed his father everywhere he went. When his father died in battle in AD 994, Canute was sent to live with his mother at the age of 11, and was then on until his coming-of-age raised in the Roman court of Constantinople, learning the customs and refined speech and mannerisms of that enlightened enclave.
After coming of age, Varangian Northmen who followed Harald then unexpectedly appeared before Canute in Constantinople, pledging their loyalty to him after testing him, confident in his capacity to lead them. And so they left Greece behind, leaving his mother Euphemia with her family, and set sail for Italy,
twisting around Calabria, passing through the Straits of Messina, and landing north of Naples, near the city of Gaeta.

    Personality:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Canute is by far an impetuous young man. He has a crude and strong sense of what he considers right and wrong, typical of a Norse man of his era.
Polished by years spent with his influencing mother and the golden court of the Bulgar-Slayer, he is also charismatic and eloquent to a certain point,
and is decisive and quick in his actions, albeit they may not be the best decisions.
Canute is generally amiable in a sense, and can appear to be even friendly to strangers at times.
At the same time, he will smile the same the way to both a man he likes and a man he's going to kill.
However, he can also be easily convinced of other's opinions, depending on the validity, logic, and cogency of the point being made to him.

-He is determined, aggressive, and driving, but also friendly and somewhat open-minded to a point.

    Personal Goals:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Canute could be considered greedy, but it might be more prudent to call him eager and ambitious,
sure of his vague dream and goal of wealth, glory, and adventure.
After leaving Greece in late AD 999, he planned to arrive in southern Italy and make trouble with the Lombard Principalities. And that's just what he'll do.

As he got older he learned to temper his anger and channel it in the right direction. Since his youth he learned to fight and command men. He is jovial more often than not. He is a just ruler for Verona, but where he excels in personal interaction and on the battlefield, he gives up in fiscal prowess. This will all be updated in time.

    Name: Karl von Klaus

    Age: 20

    Strength: 0
    Intelligence: 0
    Command: 5
    Piety: 0
    Chivalry: 0
    Dread: 0

Appearance: Dark haired, brown eyed and of average height, but with a wiry and lithe build.

    Origin: Austria

Family/House: The House of von Klaus has risen to prominence only very recently, with the conquest of the Osterreich region from the Magyars. Following the Battle of Lechfield, Heinrech von Klaus, a fearsome knight and skilled commander who has led a wing of Otto's army against the Magyars, was granted the territory of today's Duchy of Austria. He swiftly fortified the border and savagely repulsed any Magyars he found within the Empire's borders, sometimes launching devastating raids in retaliation. He built a manor house on the shores of Lake Constance, and soon expanded it into a proper keep. A tiny village sprung up around it's base to take advantage of the fishing and protection provided by the tower's proximity to water. It was in this castle that Karl von Klaus was raised.

Background Story: Karl was born into a time of strife in Germany. Before he was old enough to shave his realm, and those around it, were locked in a constant state of open warfare. Raised by the notorious Heinrech, Karl inherited much of his father’s vigor and lust for power. From birth, he was taught to be ruthless, to see everything as mere tools to advance himself. He was ever present at his father’s right side in battle, sometimes leading detachments independent of the main force. Life is nothing if not constant struggle, to improve one’s self and others, his father would often say. It was these very words that slithered through Karl’s head as he pulled the sword out of his father’s back. They had ridden out to parley with the Emperor, to see if an accommodation could be reached and if not, to approximate the size and strength of his forces. They had reached the meeting place, and he had removed his helmet to postpone the stuffiness that resulted from wearing it too long. Heinrech kept his on. He thought it might intimidate the Emperor, perhaps. He did favor the dramatic. As the negotiations dragged onwards it became clear that the Emperor was unwilling to budge. Stubbornness was one of his father’s most grating vices, and Karl was certain that he was simply stalling. While they were talking, Karl had ample time to gauge the strength of the opposing forces. His men were way out of their depth. The combined forces of most of Germany and Italy were facing off against a little over half of Austria. His father was a fine commander, but he doubted even Alexander could emerge victorious with such odds. A slow realization came over him. They were doomed to failure. Failure was unacceptable. He was above failure. The only way to escape failure would be to avoid battle. How? His father was just digging a deeper grave at this point. It was then that Karl sprung into action. A sword appeared from Heinrech’s chest, and the man toppled off his horse. Karl dismounted to finish the job, slitting the old man’s throat as he gasped out his last words. Make us proud, son. Wiping his blade off, Karl reached for his father’s. Kneeling and offering it to the Kaiser, he added Tyrol’s resources to the resurgent HRE. Since that time, he has retreated to his castle in Klaus, biding his time until the Emperor was ready to redistribute the realm amongst the various nobles.

Bio: The of of Wrangel is a rather new player in north german politics, with Pytor's father being a Rhineland Baronet who moved to the wild northern frontier in an effort to advance his name and family honor. Pytors father distinguished himself fighting the northern pagans and was elevated to the title of Graf, or count, and took a Silesian noblewomen of a cadet branch of the Piast family as his bride. Despite his noble status, the nature of life on the frontier and his father's spartan nature meant that Pytor did not live a posh life of pampering and education, but instead was educated in the schools of warfare, god, and physical pursuits.

Pytor is not an educated man, nor is is subtle or have an even temper, but instead is a practical, tough, fiery, audacious, and some would say fanatical warrior that has the potential to do great things in the cold, dark, blood-soaked forests of the north

    Publius Cornelius Scipio Byzantius

    Name: Publius Cornelius Scipio Byzantius
    Age: 21 (b. 980)
    Residence: Pisa, Tuscany
Origin: Family founded circa 780 BC, Italian Peninsula
    Points: +4 Strength, +1 Command
    Wealth: 5,792 florins (144,800 brought over/25)

Background Publius Cornelius Scipio Byzantius, was born in 980, in Pisa, Tuscany. He carries a strong, and powerful name, dating back over 1,700 years, originating in Greece. With a pure bloodline, and a direct descendant to Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus, the conquerer of Hannibal Barca... This makes all who hear his name slightly intrigued, to find he is a direct descendant, the lineage being recorded back to the Vatican, since before it's existance. The entire family tree, even of extreme rarity, exists in the histories of Rome, an ancient text, located in the Vatican, which proves his lineage. He sits highly amongst the Pope, and Christianity, as his ancestors were one of the first Roman families to embrace Christianity, after switching from the Roman Pantheon.

His family's history has been extensively researched, criticized, but accurately credited, and proven on the extreme rarity that most of the history of his genealogical background, has been recorded since the founding of Rome. The records of his family's history were extensively recorded by the Roman historian, Livy. The recordings are kept in several texts, in the Vatican, as well as in the annals of the Byzantine libraries of Constantinople.

Publius was 18, when his father, Brutus died. He is a second generation Tuscan born, into the Holy Roman Empire. His father, and atleast 10 previous generations, served under the Byzantines. His family has strong political ties to Byzantine Sicily, and they fought for over 100 years against the Arabs occupying Sicily.

His dream, is to one day overthrow the Emirate of Sicily, and return it to Christian rule, and occupation. A dream he will achieve....
