Default Proper commands/marching/combat protocol this time?

It bugged me loads how swords were always drawn on the march or when you were miles from the enemy. It would be more realistic to have your men draw there swords when they are about to engage the enemy and put them away when they do not need them, dont you think?

Another thing that bugged me in Rome was how stupid the pikes looked in the hands of the soldiers. They looked like they were weilding something as light as a feather. This time round they need to portray the physical difficulty involved with weilding the 24ft pike.

    About command...

Officers of all units should be more active in their role as commanders.

The general gives the command and then the leader of the unit repeats the command to the unit he commands.

Not only that but we should hear random commands/encouregments from unit officers such as "hold the line" or "enemy approaching our flank" ect.

You needed to start 4 threads? People still continue to suggest 'improvements'?

I agree with the drawing swords thing, it will probably be especialy noticeable if absent now its the medieval period.

As for the pikes, thats just down to the animation team, hopefuly theyll better simulate it this time.. it did look a bit odd how phalanx units would hold their spear at the very end with one hand..

thank god there was no phalanxes during the medieval times..... i think that means that CA is probably gonna think more about how they held the spears and halberds during the medieval times.. ( im rambling )

while i don't if is a phalanxes proper by the pike formtions of the late middle ages where very simlilar to the phalanxes of antiquity ( mostl the pike groups don't have shiles )While i don't if is a phalanxes proper by the pike formations of the late middle ages where very similar to the phalanxes of antiquity ( mostly the pike groups don't have shields ) and then again that’s kind of a renaissance thing but it was still farley prominent in the middle ages

btw i hope ca has some cool halberd animations because if I understand corectly a halberd was meant to pull the rider off the horse and kill him when he’s on the ground
