MTW2 installation issues on W7, please help

Hi recently I got tempted to play the MTW 2 and thought of installing my game on my Windows 7 machine. I have a Gold edition = MTW2 + Kingdoms. After some struggle I managed to install the game but then facing some issues...

1) The main MTW 2 is not installing while the Kingdom campaigns of British isles, Teutonic, Americas, Crusades all are installing.

2) When I am trying to run one of the Kingdom games I am getting an error - mss32.dll is missing from the computer.

How do I solve both point 1 and 2. Please help.

Ok in the meantime I have developed another error

The procedure entry point _AIL_set_3D_orientation@28 could not be located in the dynamic link library mss32.dll

I have no problems on Win 7 64bit.

Where did you get the game?

I got the game in a game store in Belgium. I have a W7 32 bit. Issue is I dont even get the option to install the MTW2 base game. It straight away asks for cd 2 and installs the Kingdom games

Have you had the game installed on this harddrive before?

Yes but then I had the OS replaced with W7. I had Vista earlier.

Did you reformat and do a clean Win 7 install or an upgrade?

My apologies, I have not replaced any OS on this machine. I was getting confused with my other machine. This still has the original W7 and yes the MTW2 was installed on this and uninstalled by me a year back or earlier. If you are meaning to say that there may be remnants of earlier installation then its quiet possible.

Ok I have done the following. 4

Browse to the game keys
[+] HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
[+] SOFTWARE
[+] SEGA
Right click and delete any Medieval II trees

I deleted what ever was there in this folder

Medieval II extra paths

I did not find anything incriminating in the above. In fact did not find ...\medieval2.exe

Even here I drew a blank, above files did not exist

rowse to the the directory the game was installed to.
The default folder is C:/Program Files/Sega/Medieval II Total War/

I deleted this

or Windows Vista saved games, configuration files and some game data is stored in :
C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\

Did not find above path at all, maybe different for W7

Browse to
C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information

Found something called 'installmate' which I deleted

Let me know if this is fine. I am going to attempt a installation in the meantime.

Vista and Win 7 32bit use the same keys.

Somthing else to delete if they exist,

and probably have to unhide all files and folders to find them.

I managed to install the MTW2 base game and also the Kingdom games. Now installing the BC2.3 mod. Will come back if any issues. Thanks a ton for your time and help.

No problem. I didn't get to play BC much but I liked what I did.
