Yes it will only be the elite units that have the same helmet as members of an actual regiment I think that they should wear exactly the same thing only different faces because I think it makes more sense with trying to uphold and maintain the ancient traditions of their ancient roman past as proud members of their Numerus, descendants of the old legions.

    Auxillia Secunda Flavia Gemina Palatina

The Secunda Flavia Gemina Palatina will be the other unit that will only be recruitable in Constantinople. Their unit name comes from the Notitia Dignatium as being under the command of the Magister Militum Thraces. They will be the spearmen that will help the Primiscutari in defending the capital and fighting the Emperor's enemy.

Will the Scutati and the elite Scutati appear before or after the 'theme' reforms made by Heraclius?
Also, I recognised that some of the scutati men were wearing ridge helmets or similar type helmets.

Before. If I do add an event like the themes as a Marius Event they will be completely different.

Don't know about the Heraklian era, but it fits perfect i think for the Justinian period.

Oh man, you have to be kidding, those are excellent models for a great RPG. What a magnificent quality. State-of-the-art work.

Thank you, I thank God that Lief_Erikson was kind enough to share his shields, without them my units will look like nothing. As for the body textures, they did take a quite of bit of work but it will all be worth it.

    Unique Units of the Orient

    Numerus Quarta Parthica

*This is my interpretation of the David Plate's presentation of the Helmet caps.

The Quarta Parthica were one of the last remaining units that bore a direct descent of their Legionary predecessors and are therefore extremely proud of their unit and will fight the enemies of the Emperor until death. Attesting to existing till the early phases of the 7th century, it is most likely that this unit was completely wiped out defending Antioch during the Great Sassanid-Roman War of 602.
(Note: Shield tuxture will probably change since the legion's design is not in the Notitia Dignatium.)

    Auxillia Felicium Theodosianis

The Felicium Theodosianis is the Comitis Orientis' auxilia and will support the Numerus Quarta Parthica with stout spears and great morale. I don't know if they were in Antioch at this time, I just like the name, it might change.

The models are interesting. In my opinion some heads seem to have slightly short necks or are just slightly too big. I also have not seen any Romans with trousers before but maybe I haven't been looking hard enough. The Parthians may be ok, but the Palatines?

Yes, in the later Roman World, the way to go was dressing in foreign clothing like trousers. More so in the East as can be seen by the kind of trousers the Palatine troops are wearing and as for the heads and necks I have fixed them and the camera angles on Milkshape distorts the proportions a bit.

Will we see Roman type spangenhelm that looks similar to the roman spangenhelm helmet as I have posted a picture of. Also will we see a ridge type helmet being worn by some of the regular infantry and scutati infantry?

I know new factions are a lot of work but You should consider adding the following:

    1. Ghassanids
    2. Lakhmids
    3. Mauri in North Africa would be great but the borders dont stretch that far. Some Berber tribes in North Africa would be nice though. Some independent factions to threaten Rome. Otherwise its just a camping spot.
    4. Tuscany
    5. Beneventum
    6. Spoleto
    7. - 10. Georgian Iberian factions - Albania, Lazica, Abasgia plus the Alans above them.

The three Italian states were somewhat indepedent in Italy. They would be a nice addition to the map. Give them the same units to ease down creation time.

    11. Gepids: It would be nice to have some factions along the Romano-Avar border like minor tribes or past empires. The Gepids were conquered in 567 AD but in 630 a Roman Army marched into Avar territory and captured 30,000 Avars at a Feast. They would be a nice emergent rebel faction for the Avar Empire. Like a Rebel Roman faction.

@AnthoniusII: Thanks a lot, it all began for me when CBUR first came up with the idea of a specific Byzantine roster.

@Romano Britones: no I don't think I'll add them, I might but for now no, or maybe if Razor wants to share since he has them in his mod... Ridge helmet will be with limitanei and regular infantry but all elite and professionals will have spangenhelm.

I might add the Ghassanids if someone where to supply me with at least three cities I could use to balance their faction. As for the Lakhmids I've already placed my opinion on that, they no longer existed as an independent nation. Same for the different Lombard duchies, not enough balance for three new factions. Same for the CAucasus, not enough balance. The Slavs will form their own nation if the Avars fail to take Constantinople in the great siege of 626. As for north Africa there will be plenty of Berber raids to keep the Exarch of Carthage busy.
