Default New Guide to adding the building you want to any province using ESF.

    Yo my Sho Hoe's!

So after being frustrated at the lack of guides to add buildings I decided to figure it out myself.

Follow me with this if you will please:

Campaign_Save_Game -> Compressed_Data -> Campaign_Model -> World -> Regions_Array -> Now this is where you pick the region you want. They are listed as; Regions_Array - 0 to Regions_Array 66. Just expand one of the and you will open 'Region' and the name of the province will be the second line.

Expand the region line and look for 'Region_Slot_Manager' then go to 'Region_Slot_Array'. This is it folks. these 10 slot arrays are the buildings of the provinces. The specialty building will be the last building always. This provides insight since all 10 arrays exist regardless if building exist or not. This leads me to believe that the building slots are hard coded definitively.

    And we continue...

having expanded the 'region_slot_array' go to 'region_slot', the to 'Buildings_manager' then open 'Buildings' and bingo you have it! now the two important variables are the first line and the 3rd line. The third line is the name of the building.

Now the first line is trickier. I have no idea what this number correlates to but it is necessary. Changing the name of the building wont work by itself. You need to change that number. For example, for adding the stable building, I change the name then I add the different number. How did I find this number? well I just looked through the other provinces till I found one that had the stables then I copied that number into my table and ta-da it worked.
The best part about this seems to be you don't even have to exit the game. just save the file then load it up in the game and its all done. So I would suggest experimenting and making note of the numbers of these buildings in a normal campaign if you want the more advanced buildings.

Hoped this helped especially since my MCAT is this Thursday and I should prolly be studying for that

    Peace out Sho Hoe's

EDit: you can add as many specialty buildings as you want, but you will only be able to upgrade one. Also only one resource will show up on the map...even provinces without resource (like Iyo) will get a resource on the map (pretty neat actually) but only the one with the latest entry will be on the map. you can add building by simply duplicating each array and then changing the names and numbers of th ebuildings...I gave Iyo like 12 buildings but could only upgrade one specialty...I havent seen about the other normal buildings yet...

EDIT 2 : so i tried normal buildings...do not try, immediate CTD...so stick with just modding specials

Dude, you are the best! Thank you for this tutorial. I've been a user of mods forever, but I never tried it myself. AWESOME! Now the Hattori finally have some resources closeby...

You have to unhide hidden folders and files first. The directory is this >> C:\Users\**Your username here**\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Shogun2\save_games <<.

    hello, I have a encountered the following problem. I did as the instructions but then at some point when I duplicate a slot to create a specialty building for a region with no prior specialty, the farming chain does not upgrade. i.e. I have created iron mining at etchu, i conquer etchu, iron mining building is there both map and buldings list, it can upgrade but the farms cannot upgrade. they are not grey, they are the usual lively colour that all buildings that can be built have, but when i press on it, nothing happens. any idea where i went wrong;

ps 1 the above problem does not appear when for example i change naval specialty to holy site in etchigo
ps 2 i have just noticed that the newly made resource building on the map is standing where the farm used to stand before

Necroing this thread to point out that the first field appears to be a unique id for the building, and not specific to the type of building in question. You will notice that starting buildings have the lowest numbers, and buildings that were constructed or upgraded as the game goes on have higher numbers.

Regarding the farm not being upgradable after doing this, I believe this is because there is other data that is part of the entry that -- when generated via duplication -- determines the coordinates/etc of the building in question. This would explain why the newly added resource is sitting on the spot where the farm was, previously.

Unfortunately, my intuition only extends that far. I do not understand the scripting well enough to know exactly WHAT should be changed and added to the duplicated entry. I am myself trying to add an altogether new resource to a region -- a Ninja Hideout in Shimosa province (historically, the ninja clans were from Iga and Koga provinces -- Koga/Shimosa are synonymous in this case). There are several numbers for several of the items under that Region Slot 9 that I am using, and a few of them look to be index references.

I don't know yet at the time of this writing (too late, I want to go to bed!) if the game will crash if I try to run this mod with duplicated numbers for some of these entries for the new slot. Either way, I don't know what to change the numbers such that they are unique. And there are other numbers which should be -- would have to be -- coordinates that determine where in the province the feature resides. I also don't know how the game's terrain/tile mapping will handle the placement of a new object... does it adjust dynamically to the features that are placed in the region or will this create some anomaly in the game?

Guess I'll find out sometime tomorrow or later this coming week...
