Not letting me activate DLC!

Okay so I purchased both shogun 2 total war and total war battles shogun and in total war battles shogun I recieved an activation code for the Hatorri Clan for Shogun 2.

My problem is that upon entering the code under "Activate a product" in steam I get the error "the product key you have entered requires ownership of another product before activation" After troubleshooting and re entering the key a few times now im getting the error "Invalid product code"! its a copy and paste from the link provided from Total War battles! I dont understand what to do and this is very frustrating.

I don't understand why it says "Requires ownership of another product" what other product? i have both Shogun 2 and total war battles! I dont want to have to pay for this pack when I got the code for free! especially if i end up having the same stupid "Requires ownership of another product" error after paying for it.

I would reactivate shogun 2 if i could but steam doesnt give activation codes and "show CD-key" doesnt appear in the menu when i right click on it like other sources told me it does! Please help me

did u register shogun 2 already ? if yes , right click ur game and click on view downloadable content , what shows in the list ?

You have to activate Shogun2 first. Check your emails, agin, including your spam box.

You're most likely thinking of the Sendai unlock code, which is a part of the 'stand-alone' Fall of the Samurai rather than the original Shogun 2 campaign.

Yes! I believe you are right. Unfortunately it does appear to say "Fall of the Samurai" on their website although it says "unlocks exclusive content for Shogun 2" on the website also, I'm guessing that its the Sendai clan because it says "Sendai Code" in the Total War: Battles' game

Also it does not say that I own the Hatorri Pack under DLC and yes I can currently play the Shogun 2 game. I guess I'll be buying it then. Thank you for such a speedy response and for helping me clear up this issue. I hope I haven't been a burden with this simple misunderstanding, and I hope I have better luck once actually buying the DLC.
