    Default A spectral bandit

    Yep, exactly that. A wraith.

I decided to try playing as a minor faction, so I chose Attalos. Things were going nicely. Asia Minor is mine, I have crossed the straits, and am ready to expand to the west and the north.

Then I became aware of a bandit, a single unit, no leader, who is sitting at a central crossroads in Pontus. But he is invisible. I sometimes get a glimpse of him, but as I try to center my view on him, he disappears. I send units to engage him. They encounter his zone of control, but cannot seem to execute an attack, no matter how many times I right click on him. I sent a diplomat to bribe him, but he cannot be bought. I sent a spy, who can indeed see him, but embedding the spy in a unit does not help the unit to attack. I sent an assassin, but he cannot attack the bandit; it is as if he is blocked by an interviening unit. (I know an assassin cannot remove the unit, but I was experimenting.)

And now, I find that I can no longer play that game. When I hit the "end turn" icon, the game crashes. I save at the end of each turn, so I reloaded and tried again... crash. I rebooted and tried again... crash. So I guess the spectral bandit is no longer a problem.

    No sleep tonight for me...

Have you got a save from like 5 turns before the crash which you could used to try to get past the CTD?

No, I don't think so. I use the same Save at the end of each turn. For instance, my game as Carthage each turn I save as "Punic". My game as Attalos I save as "Owl", and over write the previous Owl.

But it is OK. I was just killing time, waiting for the patch. I want to start a new SPQR game, now that I really understand the system, and get reforms that work. Playing as Rome is the most fun for me. So I will check in every couple of days to see if the patch is out.

What really bugs me is that spectral bandit. I have never seen such a thing before.

I've never encountered it either. This truly is a strange thing

I have heard of it quite a while ago, but I can't remember what caused it I think it was something to do with clones (and there are some of those in the currently released version), but I don't think it would be that if it is a bandit.

We are doing our best to get the patch out soon
