Default Sega Will Do The Sane Thing And Publish M2TW On DVD Right?

I don't feel like switching 3+ discs to install this game like Rome. I usually start installation for a game and go do something else for quarter of an hour to come back and find it done for me. Not possible with disc switching! Heres to hoping they publish it on DVD.

The majority of large games that i know of are released on DVD only.. i remember Unreal Tournament 2004 was released in both 6CD and 1 DVD cases, but that was a couple of years ago.

Id expect them to be on DVD.. everyone has a dvd drive these days, theyre so cheap..

Good question, I really hope they put it on DVD as well, I hate swapping CDs. DVDs are great because you can walk away and do something.

M2TW is probably going to be even bigger then Rome so the better release it in DVD. I'm not going to shuffle through 8 CDs to install a game.

Okies, here is the "fix" for the too many discs to install problem, and it doesn't involve Sega/CA at all.

Step 1.......be married to a computer literate wife, for a loooooong time.
Step 2.......feign ignorance about anything computer related
    Step 3.......buy the game
Step 4.......hand said game to the long term wife with a puppy dog look on your face and say "Can you please install this for me honey. You know if I try it will take you HOURS to undo what I mess up."
Step 5.......go read the manual for 15 mins
Step 6.......click the little icon to start the game

To answer the question: I think they will. The assumption seems certain that they will at least have a DVD version to not anger their customers.

Seems unfair to people without DvD drives (they do exist) just for your convenience, when basically, you're being lazy.

Having one DVD is also better for the environment and presumably cheaper to produce than up to 5 CDs.. a dvd-rom costs like £20.. shame on whoever hasnt bought one!

Uhh, we aren't asking them to make them strictly in DVD format, we're asking for them to have, say, half on CDs, half on DVDs.

I don't like the collectors edition idea unless they had a collectors edition on DVD and a vanilla version on DVD. I would really hate having to dish out another 10 bucks on a collectors edition so I can get a fancy poster. Games are expensive as it is in Canada, $60, sometimes $70 for new games. Heck, I remember when Pokemon Stadium came out for N64, it was $100. I wasted $70 on Battlefield 2.

Yeah... no problem I don't care, they can release it on 10 CDs just to release it. Speaking of technical problems, I just hope being the same engine won't increase the requirements too much and my FX 5200 will still be able to render the game no matter the quality. But already gone offtopic so.

Maybe they'll release a regular version with multiple CDs and a collector's edition with one DVD for the game and another one for special features.

Im not too worried about DVD vs CD, but i hope it is DVD, mainly for the reason that its more likely itll be properly packaged if it is. I hate games that come in paper slips or plastic sleeves meaning that i sort of end up with the disk just lying on the computer desk when not in use.

Also is it faster to install with DVDs? i mean excluding the swapping of disks?

A DVD is read the same speed as a CD I believe, so having one disc and not having the installation stop and ask for a CD is faster, but not by too much. Swapping CDs/clicking the button takes about a few seconds if you haven't already lost your CDs under a layer of cookie crumbs and game manuals. Only if you walk away and come back 25 minutes later to find out that the next CD was needed 3 minutes after you left does the DVD really save you time. If you have ADD, get distracted, have a TV on, get hungry, then a DVD is a great thing. For the rest of us its just good that we only have to care for one disc, and that we won't lose one of the many discs and be unable to reinstall. The chance of losing a disc and be unable to reinstall with CDs is 3 times greater with 3 CDs than with a DVD.
I guess those are some bonuses, or bonii, if you will.

I love how the industry is JUST starting to adopt DVDs for gaming, when HD-DVDs are beginning to hit the market X_x

Anyone who has a PC good enough to play the game will have a DVD drive. I really hope it is on DVD as well. I hate having my cd's scattered everywhere. If its on CD I will probably end up burning all the game discs as images onto a DVD-R anyway, like I did with RTW and BI.

First of all, I don't see a big problem here, just few months ago I had a CD drive , now I am a proud capitalistic DVD owner. but I don't see a biggie in having few CD to swap, and I'm going to tell you why...

hint: get your CD images done at all times and you won't have to worry about losing let's say 5 CD in MIITW which will be the middle of instalation procedure

It couldn't be worse than EQ2, which came on 10 CDs or 1-2 dvds. That was one long installation. *note: EQ2 sucks, don't waste your money.*
