Default Best Infantry unit in SS 6.4?

Yeah, as the topic says, what is the best infantry unit in SS 6.4?
We all know that Cavalry outmatch infantry in terms of speed and charge and flank.
But.. what about Infantry vs. Infantry, a battle between only two units of infantry, to see which is the ultimate and best infantry out there.
The reason I'm making this comparison is a Fatimid unit that I underestimated them, but when playing against them, they proved to be so powerful in terms of Infantry vs. Infantry.
In my opinion, and according to my observations in the battles I've played, there are top 4 units:

1 - Gothic Foot Knights. Holy Roman Empire

2 - this might be surbrising, I was surbrised too, but for some reason Tabaradariyya deserve the 2nd place. Fatimids.

3 - Broken Lancers. Available in most of the catholic factions.

4 - Foot Ritterbruders. Holy Roman Empire and Teutonic Order.

I've tried many infantry units, like Heavy Swordsmen, Fuedel Foot Knights, and Spatharioi tou Vasileos.
This is my conclusion, out of ALL the factions these four rules. I don't know why Tabaradariyya are so strong though they have only 15 def. and 11 attack. 5 to charge bonus. I think these numbers are wrong, they may have like 25 def. Try them and see what I'm really talking about.

Tabaradariyya is that strong 'cos they use 2H axes + ap bonus.
Anyway, Kwarezmian dismounted Royal Guard is the best imho. No contest.

I was also doing some infantry vs infantry testing before few days and all the infantry with AP are usually going to do really well, but i could not get any exact results because the AI wants to retreat for a charge and they loose the precious few men that could let them win the game otherwise.

The other elite infantry of the Crusader Stated was really good, i think they might be the best, they are AP and 2h + other good stuff.

If you were reffering to Canons of the holy sepulcher, you are wrong. They don't haveAP weapons.
Înfrânt nu eşti atunci când sângeri,
nici ochii când în lacrimi ţi-s.
    Adevăratele înfrângeri,
    sunt renunţările la vis.

I think he may refer to dismounted knights of St. Lazarus. They hit hard and use 2h axes. Also very cheap upkeep and good morale, since they are religious order. Edessan guard is also very good axe infantry for CS, since they come in 150 per unit and are easily recruitable from cities.

I never got a chance to fight anything but Tabidirya...and boy do they make a mess of any line.

No i was reffering to the Templar guard unit, they are the same size like the other "cool" units like ritterbruders, etc., but they could easily beat Tabardiya which is 78 men IIRC(i play on normal unit size to get rid of some lag at big battles), they look somewhat like the English/Portuguese dismounted knights, but with awesomer weapons and armor.

Edit: I also found that French "Dismounted Noble Knights" are an interesting unit - the are much like the Portugese/English dismounted units(AP and 2H), but have 11 attack, which is 1 more then the Templar guard, but have 2 or 3 less defense(18 or 17) which makes these 2 fighting each other to death a really close fight. Btw i also did this with them unupgraded, because some factions have more armor upgrades, because they are more advanced.

I think a really unknown unit is a King's Hirdsman from the Kingdom of Norway, taking over Scandinavia was a pain once Oslo became a Citadel, and these units could turn the tide in any battle i had against them as the TO, as an infantry reliant faction, Norway's Hirdsman are a really danger to any unit 1v1

Swiss Guards, Swiss Halberdiers and Swiss Pikemen. Anything Swiss is the most destructive, durable and brutal infantry in SS6.4 for me. Plus, they look lovin' cool as well.

Any infantry with locked morale like Swiss Guard are extremely dangerous and it often comes down to which unit gets best charge or has higher ground. On flat ground when battle starts at a walking pace then AP 2 hand units seem almost always the best though some of the heavy sword infantry do better against other units than the AP infantry, when they actually fight the AP infantry it will be a close battle or they will lose despite doing better against other units that AP infantry defeated with higher casualties.

Also consider the infantry that have missiles. Ottoman infantry that can kill before even getting into melee are very strong even in later eras. Anyway- there are a ton of these threads, just search and you'll find arguments still even after 100s of tests.

True; which means that there is no real true best infantry unit. What can be a good infantry unit for me, doesn't necessarily have to be a good infantry unit for other players. The units which most fit my playing style is the best unit for me, yet it may not be for others who have a different playing style.

For my playing style (using shock infantry to crack open lines after skirmishing) I have a few favorites:
    Dismounted English Knights
    Tabaradariyya
    Swiss Halberdiers/Swiss Guards

    Tabaradariyya conquers all.

well, I kind of agree with "vtec.dominion", Persian's royal guards are the ultimate unit.
I realized that the number of soldiers in a unit is has a big effect. Tabaradariyya, Broken Lances, and Persian's royal guard has 115 soldiers in a unit. Others have 93. While some units have only 56 lol.
Why is this variety in numbers of soldiers in a unit, I think it is unfair.

Campaign-wise, Janissary units are damn brutal for their cost and avaiability. Janissary Heavy Inf. brings very good performance for moderate cost and the arquebusiers and musketeers are incredibly useful as they can actually hold their own in close combat, too.
