What..just happened?

Turn 165, playing as the Grand Duchy of Middenheim. I got a message saying that Averland wanted their land back. So I said yes. Then I got a message saying that the Emperor was angry at me, the Grand Theologan issued an edict against me, and Chaos cults were running wild. I noticed then that my armies weakened and my temples were all destroyed O_O

What exactly happened?

I recovered BTW, and for whatever reason, my low ranking with the Grand Theologian went to full, and I won the game I pushed da boyz back to the deserts, and Chaos stayed in the far north

Just had problem with those blasted Dark Elves in Norsca

Why did that happen? I tried keeping tons of priests in my lands

Because not high enough Empire worship

I bet it was immigrants from Norsca. Worshippin Khorne...

It may also be a faction revival bug.Was averland alive at this time?

I've had this problem too. If you retake another Empire faction's capital, the script reverts you to Chaos whether or not you choose to give it back to its original owners. Bug

Ah, that must have been it Yeah, seems like Averland was dead. Da Boyz had been messing it up, and I, proud count of Middenheim, had been liberating all lands

Not that bad a glitch actually. For whatever reason, Middeheim has 4 crosses at the start, so I couldnt call for crusades, ever. But I got to take grand revenge on the Orcs because of that. 5 full crusade stacks heading to the Boss Camp, blowing stuff up all along the way XD

Been playing the 1.4 have you eh? In 1.5, there are more scripts in place to make for a better transition, for instance, if you as Middenheim, capture Averheim whils't Averland has been destroyed and choose to restore it, a turn afterwards, a script forces the factions to become allies again. The only downside is that you'll propably loose Military acess with w/e allied factions who turn their back on you, only to be turned back again by the script. This was before the main reason for why you suddenly could be decleared an heretic

Also.... even though you can't take their capital, that doesn't mean you can't... supervise their other lands... ^^
