    Default AI ragequit?

Playing my Aragon campaign and have wiped out Leon & Castile and beating the crap out of the Moors. I'm allied with Portugal whom controls only Leon, Salamanca, Seville, and Lisbon when all of a sudden they just up and die. No one attacked them, all their territories went rebel and they were destroyed.

Is this a bug? All I can think of is that their entire family tree died off and them with it. Can that even kill off a faction?

    Sab.

Yup, it sounds like their whole family tree died off. And yes, that will destroy a faction.

Thanks. It caught me off guard, I havn't seen it before and was like WTF?!

Well, it saves me the effort of having to declare war on them later and possibly losing my alliance with Genoa whos' kicking the crap out of the HRE and France.

    Rage quit hehehehe.

Thats funny, but scary.... could it be true?

Could the SS AI have achieved self awareness and turned into a 13 year old MMO player?

I guess it would explain why the French crossed the channel, mooned my troops, then sailed back to Paris

Sounds strange, i cant believe that the AI hadnt adopted any generals yet. Only possiblilty i see is that the family tree had so many girls in it that no generals could be adopted before they gained more settlements. Whenever i start killing off an AI nation for good they always get endless supply of new generals to throw at me, which can drive you mad because i would rather just kill off the family tree and clean up the rebel mess later, it is better than having to deal with the AI buying all the mercs possible and making lots of bad quality armies because of endless money boosts whenever they are losing.

Well, they were boxed against the coast I control the rest of Iberia and they were allied to me, so save breaking the alliance, or taking to the sea which they did try once, but I beat them to Merrakesh they were stuck.

Baring an attack (which you say they werent) had to be just the King with no heir.

Common sense would be adopt a son from somewhere (anywhere at that point... he knew he was old)... but AI lacks human emotion (including desire for a sense of immortality)

Perhaps they lost a battle against rebels?
I usually see that 'lemmings' style of behaviour with the crusader states AI, Kings and princes just attacking stacks of enemies and rebels, which eventually leads to them running out of leaders. I've heard a lot of families dieing out in later parts of campaigns, but surely the AI wouldn't let this happen untill they have just one family member left?

I was just farting around on the campaign map during a crusade with my assassin (I was playing as Portugal), and I inadvertently killed both the English faction heir and the king. Luckily I had an old crusader army on Ireland just chilling, and I rushed in and basically stole England. It was hilarious.
