Thanks Valentin - that definitely sounds like a good place to start.
Having read around the forum a bit more this afternoon, I'm thinking of laying out my troops something like this:
p-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-p
a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a
i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i
c-c-c-c i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i c-c-c-c
c-c-c-c i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i c-c-c-c
i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i
p-pikemen
a-archer
i-infantry
c-cavalry
Ignore the numbers (i'm sure there are far too many there!!), but what do you think of the general formation?
If he can be enticed into attacking the centre of the formation, my pikemen and archers should be able to hold his forces up long enough for my calvery to get down the sides.
Or am I just being far too optimistic now :-)
