    Default Processor Options.

    .

I'm considering doing a rather large upgrade from a little I3 2100 to an I5 3570K or even the I7 Ivy bridge however i have some keen questions before taking the plunge .

I play RTS games mainly like Shogun 2 and Company of Heroes.

I was wondering what the best build would be an I5 Ivy or an I7 Ivy also the upcoming company of heroes 2 is coming in 2013 so it may be a hard choice .

Any help is very much appreciated thank you .

the i5 Ivy Bridge overclocked will do what you need it to spend the extra you would spend on the i7 for a kick ass cooler and reap the benefits for a 1 GHz overclock lol

but this upgrade depends on if your motherboard has a BIOS update to support Ivy Bridge, some companies have not released an update for said CPUs

i5 and i7 are about equal in games HT seldom does much it can help yes but its not like they are real cores its just a 20% boost at best

save the money get the i5 3570k and depending on your case get a really good cooler, which if i know what case you have i can tell you what to grab cooler wise with said saving, as the 3570k at 4.4-4.6 will do great things performance wise in CPU heavy titles especially Shogun 2 lol

but of those games only Dawn of War 3 and GTA 5 will likely be taxing on the CPU.

Unless I've missed something you have to get a new MoBo if you get a new CPU?

nope Z68 and in some rare cases P67 can run ivy bridge, if they recieved a proper bios update,

most ppl still switch because Z77 is the superior platform and overclocks better compared to the previous boards.

and no i didnt forget about the cooler just been busy

my suggestion a Thermaltake Water 2.0 Performer
