    Default The best fighting animations

Yes as the title says, im hoping for the best fighting and most realistic fighting animations in any total war to date. I want to see fighting on the scale of 300, or spartacus especially. There could be different fighting styles to it as well, like romans would fight in a more protective style in hand to hand, using their shield to take most of the blows, (their advantage). If you play as gauls they should have a more animal like animation such as the moves you see in spartacus. They should also have the abilitie to pick up weopons that are on the ground to fight maybe even rocks, or maybe even fallen soldiers as human shields? Also if theirs war elephants they should be able to climb on top of them, maybe like 1 or two men and fight the archers or spearmen on top. Just make it epic, in a true battle for life and death, a "real" warrior does anything to save their lives, and if that means climbing the elphant and killing the rider, then so be it. I very much would like the eye candie along with better AI to be the core of this game. I intently watch the battles and always try to find the coolest 1 vs 1 that i can find. My favorite is 4 vs 1 and have that 1 be the general. Also the killing animations should be just as epic and gruesome, each faction should have different one deff

As one of the biggest names in M2TW animation modding, i have high hopes for the animations of Rome 2. As long as they don't butcher it too much(if at all) I will be fine. If they really want to go with the wider scale for the game, the best way to show that would be with animations. Because many of the nations fought radically different from each other. Greeks had the phalanx, Romans had their formations, Celts fought like mad men, middle eastern factions had mounted archers, Carthage and her elephants, etc, etc. You can do alot here, I don't expect 100% accuracy, but I do expect something good and in that range. I don't think going down the "300 and Spartacus" route is best thing to do man.

CA said that they really wanted to improve on the 1 v 1 fighting of units. I'm assuming that will include making the fighting styles of the units more realistic.

i totally agreed with the realism to the countries they come from for the fighting style, i ment that i would like the fighting to be in the same epicness as spartacus and 300 lol not exactly the same fighting style. They need to make each faction be unique in every single way.
I just love watching 1 vs 1 haha

This has already been confirmed by Creative Assembly on their interview with IGN. They will use their "meatgrinder" movement, barbarians will just rush in and find an opponent and so on.

The Gauls were barbarians, but barbarian=/=savage. They had formations and tactics, just not as complex as the Romans had.

Now this is just pure Lord of the Rings. An elephant waves back and forth, making it impossible to climb on its back, especially since they are surprisingly agile in nature. Not to mention the rider poking your eyes with his spear all the while you are climbing atop a war elephant moving at 40kph(25mph).

Of course they will have different ones, there will probably be dozens of different kill animations. What, did you think the Romans would behead all the time, Parthians stab, Gauls slash etc?

Rest assured after seeing SHOGUN 2's animations you can only expect better animations! (I know I bring up SHOGUN 2 a lot for these type of discussions, but it only is the truth!)

I agree completely, Shogun 2 had the best fight animations by far and I salivate at just the thought of CA improving it for Rome 2.

I hope there won't be something like 300 oO
Still I hope great animations (wars between romans and greeks already sounds epics)

Animations will be fine, but I really don't like the 1v1 battles where 500 man stand around 2 people, like a duel. It's a fricking battle ffs, everyone should be fighting together, should to shoulder, shield to shield.

Well, we still don't know how they're going to do it precisely. 1v1 is obviously still there, but that doesn't mean proper formation fighting is non-existent. We may well see 1v1 only in situations where the formations collapse.

Why they are not creating tool package for modding ? They could sell them for few pounds and people could mod .. Well it was said that mods extend games ''life'' for longer .. they even mentioned that rome total war still sells because of mods .. so why they are not investing few thousand pounds in this modding tool project ? They probably dont even have to create anything , because they have all the tools while they are creating the code .. but we are not going to change the code so the tools shouldnt too so expensive .. but I dont know .. I am not a modder .. maybe those programs wont be worth just few pounds, but few hundred pounds ? if the game is written in such difficult way , so probably the sofware needed to mod is very expensive too ?? What is the problem ? Why they are not releasing tools to mod , when there is such great success when it comes to modding ? After all these DLC's there is nothing left for them to do .. but for the community its + 10 years of modding and playing the game all over again .. If they created heaven out of hell with rome total war ... what modder could do with shogun ?

Original rome animations was pretty realistic weren't they?

Horde of barbarians charges against the roman shield wall, the roman hold up the shield, shoulder to shoulder and simply stab, stab, stab, stab, stab and stab though the gaps of the shield wall.

Would be nice to see the centurions blowing a whistle and the front men moving to the back and second men in line moving forward.

no, not really. Original rome animations include the "pike scythe", the charging legionaries with raised gladii for a slashing downward stroke, etc.
And no, there was no roman in the vanilla
