My question is which one would win ?.
A website would be helpful where we could compare these things.

Laptop a bit more expensive , but u can play anywhere, even at home in different places.
I advise ASUS laptop
the laptop GPU is similar but the desktop one is faster,
as for the play anywhere, sure you can play anywhere long as your near a power outlet lol, also doesnt change the fact a track pad is utterly terrible for most games,
but i digress they are similar but the desktop 7870 wins by around 10-15%

if you look closely you can see the desktop 7870 listed in the 3DMark 11 bench

take notebookcheck with a huge spoon of salt. But yes, crazy is right its 10% slower than the 7870. You can OC both and achieve great results. We are still waiting for some kind soul to do a vbios hack so that people can raise the voltage on the 7970m, currently the best overclocker is the 680m, which will achieve the speeds of the 670 and more, much more

Well here is the thing.
My friend has an Alienware Laptop he has the 7970M.
The reason i made this thread was because my freind kind of raged how his 7970m could not beat my 7870 desktop card you would somewhat believe that the 7970M could in fact beat it but i just completely won him even on my I3 Dual Core system compared to his brand new ivy bridge system or laptop however you want to call it how simply absurd.
So basically my low budget 800 Quid pc beat his absolute overpriced dell laptop it just goes to simply show how overpriced laptops are when the low budget pc can pretty much beat them now imagine a high budget pc.
anyone with half a brain and some PC knowledge could have told your friend he was gonna get pwned if comparing to a desktop in terms of price to performance for gaming you have to pay a HUGE premium for the ability to take it with you.

extremely correct, it doesnt matter the amount of money, desktop will always win in terms of performance per money.
He also doesnt even know what he bought, since the 7970m IS a 7870, with a slight downclock. He also doesnt know how to install drivers, and disable enduro. To add more tequila to the drunk, he doesnt know how to oc the thing
