CTD on Startup

Hi i get a CTD on start up, im using steam and i followed the install instructions carefully doing everything in the right order. I start the game up and i get to the title screen saying Roma Surrectum and then the game crashes to the desktop giving me no error message what so ever.
Any help on this would be appreciated.

Specs of the machine? Do you have problems playing other games at all?

dual core 1.8Ghz processor
Nvidia Geforce 8600M


Have no problems playing games like rome total war, medieval 2 and empire normally , no problems with other mods like RTR. Only crashes to desktop without an error message on this mod.

I am also using the steam version. Rome total war gold, up to date version, also have alexander expansion.

Do have have the -show_err switch on the launcher?

Not all CTDs get an error message - only if it's trapped by the exe.
