    Default Finishing the game

okay so ive played almost every game that has come out on total war....but i have never finished a campaign with all the win conditions haha. ive finished the campaign and lost because i just kept going and not even trying to get the win conditions. The only two times ive come close, was playing as spain in empire...i had traded all my provinces in europe to get some allies and this led to an esier start. but by the end i got all the regions and most of the provinces needed..except the ones i had sold. And then this aizu campaign that im doing now, i could have won if i had stayed shogun or imperial, but i wanted to go republic for a better challenge, and now with only two years left, i have 20 more regions to capture and the last specific citie. So i guess i wanted to see if anyone else has gone through the game as i have only to stop playing and play as another faction because you want something new?

I never play to the game`s end conditions. I just carry on when it says I reached the time. I really don`t like the artificial rushed crap to get uber points like a 1000 metre hurdle runner! Neither do I see it as very realistic.

As far as I`m concerned, I haven`t lost until my last city is taken. It`s how I`ve played every Total War game.

I`m glad CA allows us to ignore those end conditions if we wish.

yea thats the way ive always played lol, i always feel like someone sucker punched me in the gut when that message come that says you lost when you own half the map, i hope CA in the future maybe makes extra win conditions, like science or tech maybe or even witch faction produced the biggest armies, economy and victories or something.

I usually don't really have problems meeting the victory conditions. And I usually play slow campaigns, it's not that I really try since the only thing I occasionally do is check how many provinces I need or which specific ones, but I won't rush to get those provinces. In my campaigns everything rolls into it's place out of it's own.

I have trouble getting myself to finish FotS. The prices are to high for buildings and you're forced to go thru the techs slowly. I have a campaign on vh where I'm in central honshu, finally have a good economy and military but then I lost interest because it took so long to get to that point. I'll have to find a mod that addresses those issues.

I love the FotS campaign (though i admit the units can become abit too boring with the lack of variety in traditional units. Give more traditional units!), mostly because the campaign map is bigger (always a plus) more areas/routes to take/go. 24 turn years meaning long winters and i like lethal realistic winters (not the fluffy crap the game fed us in RotS and SJ). I also came to like the economy, building armies, developing provinces etc. in FotS, it makes sense. Build your economy up first, then build up your army (tech wise, always recruit units :p) More provincial unique buildings was a + too.

My favourite campaign unit wise is still the sengoku one. But when it comes to turns per year, amount of provinces, campaign map layout and a few other things i like FotS more. Shame it doesnt have as engaging combat ^^ (but thats my oppinion)

As for slow tech etc from the quote: Build your economy first, get those eco arts, then dabble into military arts and buildings. You need to secure a good economy first or end up strangling your income before you can develope it.

I don't play any Total War game for the victory conditions either. I will strive to get it, but I won't play it just to get it. That is way too linear. One reason I love Total War games is how I can do what I want when I want. I have actually hardly ever beaten an actual campaign (except for in Empire). In Medieval II I don't think I ever won, but maybe two.

Usually I try to win for each faction. Something about getting that win screen and acheivment is pretty great.

After that though, I try random campaigns and rarely go after conditions.

Well im glad im not the only one, for some reason, right before i get to the end goals, i either lose interest (most of the time), dont have enough turns because i thought it be more fun to do something else, or just find it way to linear to keep going on the same path of conquer this, conquer that. Idk why i love being a super power and being attacked or helping an ally with their war. i wish they gave you an option to be able to give what cities you take to your ally. I honestly hate haveing to take all the provinces or even try and get the ones i need. I agreed that the fall of the samurai camp is a slow start, and usually doing the economic tecks is a better start. But i find that if you do economic, sure you build a strong money base, and you can start recruiting decent soldiers....but if you go with a military backbone...sometimes that gives you the edge you need to overpower. This was crucial to me everytime in empire, military is the way to go, in fall of the samurai not so much because again the buildings for the units and upkeep are too expensive. For some reason in shogun and rots you could have an edge in military and have it be practical. A little thing like extra exp or flame arrows goes a long way.

The only thing I don`t like about the way it`s done is when you DO eventually take over the whole country, you don`t get any kind of end cinematics. I think you do if you finish in their end conditions time.

I don`t see why you can`t get a `You rule the country or world` end cinematic, even if it`s 50 years later. You still won in the end.

Not only should they give you a cinematic, they should at least give you some sort of prize, like a rare unit or something, but no it isnt so. Ha yea that was agood video, i liked that better than the shogun 2 intro for the factions, i loved the duel between the samurai and the monk tho

I don't see the point of giving a rare unit for that, I'd rather have them all, especially if I bought DLC. However, they do give you a prize you get an achievement(s) that also give your multiplayer avatar unique items for doing so.

Shogun 2 is the only Total War game I have played and completed all available playable clans according to victory condition. All on domination campaign except the first campaign as Chosokabe on 40 province.

Haven't even finished a campaign yet on ROTS and FOTS.
