Alpha Layer

Hello

I am fairly new to alpha layers and i am wondering do you edit them in 3d max or photoshop (i guess 3dmax) as i tried in photoshop and the whole element vanished.

can anyone give me a quick fools guide to getting rid of the black area on this shoulderpad.

Photoshop.

Open file and tick channels 'Alpha one'. Anything with red will not show.

hello

i have done this mate already, it just caused the whole shoulder pads to vanish? (i only added a tiny bit of red where the back was???? what have i done wrong?

you only need to Matt the area not wanted, and save as normal.and this has to be done in Ps or what ever editing program your useing.
